Giornale: Seven days and three home games as Milan enter decisive phase

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan need to bounce back with a win in their clash against Fiorentina tonight. It’s the first of three home games in just seven days, meaning the fans could lead the Rossoneri to a complete turnaround.

Stefano Pioli and his men have claimed just two points in the last four league games. Despite the troubling injury situation, therefore, Milan have no option but to win tonight. As highlighted by Il Giornale (via MilanNews), a decisive seven-day exam is on the cards.

The Fiorentina clash is the first of three home games, which will all take place in the space of seven days. Claiming all three points today, and then against Frosinone next Saturday, would certainly improve the situation in the league standings.

As the newspaper continues, there are still many games to go this season but Milan need the turnaround to happen now, because later it will be too tough. Then there is the Champions League pursuit, with the Dortmund encounter scheduled for Tuesday.

There’s no margin for error in the big competition and after beating PSG last time out, Milan need another win. It won’t be enough to reach the Round of 16, as the away trip to Newcastle in the final round will be decisive. But without a win against the Germans, it will more or less be over.

The next week, as such, is not just decisive for the rest of Milan’s season but also for Pioli’s future at the club.
