Olivier Giroud has described his arrival at AC Milan as being welcomed into a ‘big family’ and reaffirmed his desire to help mentor some younger players.

Giroud was interviewed by Milan TV in view of the derby on Sunday evening which is huge for both the Rossoneri and their city rivals Inter, and the Frenchman spoke about the game against Inter as well as his arrival at the Rossoneri over the summer.

“I am very happy. They all welcomed me well, like a big family. I am here to help many young players and I am proud to do so by bringing my experience,” he said (via MilanNews).

“We have a lot to do and definitely we have to give more. I am very motivated and I hope to win something this season. I am very proud of the number 9, I am not superstitious. If I play well why is 9 not okay? (smiles).

Best goal so far? “The one against Hellas Verona.”

Ibrahimovic? “Zlatan is very important for the team. It is a good competition with him and Ante in attack.”

The derby? I’m very excited and I want it to be Sunday. It’s the most important match for the fans, we hope to win.”
