Giroud gives updates on his physical condition; insists he ‘needs to play’

By Nikita Fesyukov -

AC Milan will face Verona tonight at the San Siro, with the Rossoneri looking to continue their positive start to the Serie A season.

In this context, Olivier Giroud is back in the starting line-up after some time and he will surely want to impress the San Siro crowd as he did during his debut at the stadium against Cagliari when he scored a brace.

The Frenchman spoke to Milan TV (via milannews.it) before the match, elaborating on his current moment, his injury problems as well as the experience of playing at the historical stadium.

“I’m fine, my back is better now. I don’t know if I can show the best of me but I will try to help the team and win and I will try to do my best to score goals and achieve victory,” the striker said.

“I have been waiting for this moment to play with the team tonight and we’ll try to do the things the coach said during the week.

“For me, the first time at the San Siro was with Cagliari and I was very happy with the welcome of the fans. I am very motivated to show that I want to win something this season. I need to play because I miss the competition so much,” Giroud concluded.

Milan will be looking to win their sixth game of the Serie A season tonight at the San Siro, with Pioli’s squad only losing points away against Juventus in a 1-1 draw and otherwise staying unbeaten in the league campaign.

A win against Verona could move the Rossoneri temporarily in first place, with Napoli to play Torino tomorrow. Moreover, after Inter lost 1-3 against Lazio earlier today, the team could increase the gap from the Nerazzurri to five points.
