After the 0-0 draw between AC Milan and Newcastle, Olivier Giroud spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on the flash. He acknowledged the fact that the Rossoneri needed to be more clinical.
Milan had a plethora of chances this evening and really put Newcastle in difficulty, but they lacked the final touch. Despite an XG (expected goals) of 2.08, therefore, they ended up with none and got just a point from the game.
Speaking to Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews, Giroud shared his thoughts on the game and Milan’s struggle in front of goal. He was also asked about Sandro Tonali, who made his return to San Siro this evening.
On the game…
“I think we had many chances, efficiency is very important at this level. We gave everything, the final touch was missing.”
“I love him, but tonight they wanted to win. I think we lacked a bit of luck.”
On what to improve…
“You need to look at things to improve, we need to think about the next game. Football is like this: sometimes it’s better to forget but always with the desire to learn.”
Milan will take on Hellas Verona at the weekend and it will be important to get back to winning ways. They still have a very good position in the league and need to build on the positive performance tonight, perhaps working on finishing in training.
