GdS: ‘Right place at the right time’ – Giroud comes up big for Milan again

By Oliver Fisher -

Olivier Giroud is fast gaining a reputation as being AC Milan’s man for the crucial moments, as he got another huge goal against Napoli in last night’s 1-0 win.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes how Giroud has never been a great goalscorer in his long career, but in big games he has often come up trumps. We saw that when Milan won against Inter recently as he scored the decisive brace, and he popped up with a goal similar to the equaliser in that game at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to seal a crucial win.

In the first half he suffered a bad wound above his ankle after a very hard challenge by Koulibaly but he brushed that off and was determined to have his say, which came early in the second half.

After the game, he stated to DAZN: “I try to do my best when I’m in the area, I always try to be in the right place at the right time.” He was then forced to leave the pitch due to a sprained ankle, the hope at Milanello is that it is not anything serious because it is a decisive moment in the season and therefore Pioli needs all his troops.

The return to the field for Zlatan Ibrahimovic was very important last night for this reason, and he will only boost the winning mentality within the team.
