Giroud discusses prospect of playing alongside Ibrahimovic: “I can adapt my game”

Olivier Giroud has left the choice in the hands of Stefano Pioli with regards to a potential strike partnership with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Giroud’s union with Ibrahimovic pits together two great goalscoring veterans who have achieved plenty in their respective careers. The Frenchman arrived from Chelsea after winning the first Champions League of his career with the Blues.

Speaking in his first press conference, the 34-year-old was asked about the idea of not only competing for a spot with Ibrahimovic but also the possibility of seeing them together on the field in a formation with two strikers. He was full of praise for his Swedish team-mate, who is 39 now but still going strong at the highest levels.

“First of all, I want to say that it’s great to play with great players like Ibrahimovic. I’ve already talked to him a few times in training. He has a great personality and I’m ready to play with him, to show that we can play together. I’m sure both of us will bring a lot to the team,” (via MilanNews).

“I can’t talk much about tactical details. I can adapt my game and my qualities and I think recently Ibrahimovic is more of a number 10, a point guard. I can’t wait for him to be with us.”

The World Cup winner has already made his first appearance as a Rossoneri player, scoring four minutes into his Milan debut against Nice in the recent pre-season friendly. This is his third major European league experience – after emerging in the spotlight during his Ligue 1 days with Montpellier, before moving to Arsenal.
