CorSera: Giroud shows immense sacrifice while working overtime amid World Cup dream

Olivier Giroud was not even meant to start the game against Sampdoria and yet he still found a way to be decisive for his team, a report has detailed.

Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) write how Giroud’s performance against Sampdoria was just another display of his exceptional attitude. Despite being exhausted from having run throughout the game in another start, he continued to fight, press and help his team-mates to defend the 2-1 advantage that he had earned.

At the end of the game the Frenchman left the field with a smile and the title of Man of the Match thanks to winning and converting a penalty inside the final 20 minutes, continuing his trend of scoring huge goals.

Giroud is a fundamental element in Stefano Pioli’s team and he is working overtime at the moment because he is practically the only centre-forward in the squad who is healthy, with Ante Rebic and Divock Origi still struggling with some physical problems.

The sense of sacrifice he is showing is incredible and must be an example for everyone, especially for the youngest players in the team, and there is another target for the veteran striker as Giroud is still hoping for a call-up from France for the World Cup.
