If Oliver Glasner were to sign as AC Milan’s new head coach, he would immediately ask the management to reunite him with a striker.
Calciomercato.com report that the centre-forward in question is none other than Jean-Philippe Mateta, someone that Milan fans should know well after what happened during the most recent winter transfer window.

Mateta was first close to joining Juventus, then very close to Milan, but ultimately failed a medical due to knee problems. The Rossoneri had reached an agreement with Crystal Palace for around €35-36m, but then decided against completing the deal after the club doctor deemed his medical risky.
Milan after all?
The disappointment of the failed deal turned into motivation to have a strong second half of the season. After opting for conservative treatment and missing eight games in the Premier League and Conference League, he returned to scoring.
Mateta netted five times between mid-March and the end of the season, including the decisive goal in the final of the third European competition against Rayo Vallecano. He even convinced Didier Deschamps, who called him up (and not Kolo Muani and Nkunku) for the World Cup.
Oliver Glasner, barring any last-minute changes, will be the next coach of Milan. The club intend to formalise the agreement with the Austrian coach immediately after the appointment of the new sporting and/or technical director.
In the most recent talks between the parties, Glasner made a clear request to strengthen the attack: he wants to work with Mateta again. Together they made history at Palace, winning an FA Cup, a Community Shield and the Conference League.
Given his contract expiring in 2027 and the asking price, Milan have recently reconsidered the move. Crystal Palace’s demands remain high – exceeding €30m – but with a good chance of a discount. Mateta, who turns 29 in 19 days, feels ready for the move.
He had already enthusiastically agreed to join Milan in January, and there should be no issues with personal terms. Watch out for Juventus again though: they have Mateta as an alternative to Sorloth and Kolo Muani.
So basically, Allegri sabotaged the medical. He was made that he asked for certain profiles and was told there was no money. Then, 30 mil suddenly popped up and it was for Mateta, someone Allegri didn’t ask for. Then Mateta suddenly has a knee issue that didn’t affect him AT ALL in England and they win a major trophy with him as a starter. Seems like it was a little private war between Allegri and Furlani.
Why would you come to that conclusion ?
Mateta didn’t play any minutes in February due to his knee problems and didn’t play before Match 5th and besides of that medicals are done by doctors at clinics not the coaches.

The world is full of conspiracy theory numbskulls. Some think Allegri purposely got us to tank so that he could go to Napoli or something. It’s crazy. I don’t rate him as a coach, but these theories are so out there.
That there certainly is but not really sure what that comment of his was. Well a coach would quickly dismantle his career if he on purpose acted against his club so pretty sure we can debunk that one 😀
Numbskull? See my comment below. He was out for a very small amount of time compared to what Milan was claiming would be the case. Not saying it def was but really looks like someone pushed it one way. It happens all the time. Do you know of the story of the guy who scammed multiple pro clubs and couldn’t actually play a lick of football? Carlos Raposo, He played for some relatively big clubs and needed a lot of people within those clubs INCLUDING TTHE MEDICAL TEAM to do him favors to achieve this. and that was a nobody random guy not a big time coach with connections…You don’t have enough information or wisdom to make as strong statements as you’re making. I could be wrong but I think lunatic is unnecessary. There are subtleties in the world btw. Allegri didn’t need to fabricate anything just nudged something in one direction or another. Again could be wrong for sure, but everyone here getting mad agro is strange. It’s a theory, you’re free to disagree but name calling really isn’t needed. The injury was made to seem like he can’t play for a long time which clearly wasn’t the case. It may have been too much for me to say it didn’t effect him at all but the reports from Milan sounded like he was going to be out for at least 6 months, which clearly wasn’t the case. So either the doctors really messed up (which is possible) or someone did Allegri a small favor. It really isn’t a crazy conspiracy that would need shady parking lot meetings and trench coats. You guys are so aggressive and kind of close minded. You think everyone is just perfectly loyal to the job with no imperfections or weakness and people never have friendships or maybe don’t give it much thought when Allegri comes to ask them to really take the injury seriously or suggest something? I think you are over thinking this situation, in general when you are a leader you have to be positive and believe in what you have and by constantly giving reassurances to it you indirectly push those kind of things away from you. That’s just how the cookie crumbles.
He is a horrible football coach but a evil genius, even tho he look like it with his gremlin smile he is not.
Well from what leaked out in the media he had actually be playing all fall with some issues and when he was about to join us he was deemed by our medical team to need surgery that could keep him out for 3-4 months. That he still hasn’t gotten so if he actually is about to join us that issue could still be a problem, time will tell.
No club in their right frame of mind would want to invest 30-35 mil on a player that arrives injured and that is one thing we know he was at that point of time otherwise he would at the very minimum been a bench player for Crystal Palace and he wasn’t for over a month.

Not a fan of Allegri but to say that hehad anything to do with Mateta is just a too far stretch. If anything, he’d gladly welcome any striker reinforcement. One post that he clearly asked since the beginning of the season.
And we can’t really complain about the doctor assessment. We avoided Boniface because of that assessment.
The fishy thing here is how come we suddenly have 35 mil for Mateta when the management clearly stated that they didn’t have the budget for additional CB that Allegri asked. Same fishy thing about Nkunku’s 37 mil ++ sudden deal to Milan. When the coach clearly didn’t ask for such character.
So yes, there’s certain personnel in management who’s not collaborating with others and able to bypass this kind of decision. Clearly someone with the high hierarchy.
But for a made up injury we’d already have him, but now we’ll get outbid.

Wasn’t made up though. He was out for almost 2 months. Commentators even talked about it when he finally got back on the pitch and scored his first goal in a while. If hes healthy I have no issue bringing him in, he’d be great, but if its gonna be another Boniface situation, its best to avoid
They reportedly opted for conservative treatment instead of operation and it worked. At least for the time being. Nobody knows what will happen in the future. With our luck, he’d probably start our season injuried and needing operation, lol.
At a macro level, the idea that glasner thinks he needs to bring in one of his posse sounds a lot like Serge with Joao Felix and Allegri with Rabiot. regardless of performance, this creates an unbalanced locker room, when a coach starts out playing favorites. in the end, allegri had rabiot thinking he was the center striker, which obviously caused issues with the other forwards.
