Goal: Clear path for Milan as Arsenal step aside in race to land €60m Bundesliga star

By Oliver Fisher -

There are conflicting messages regarding the future of RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano and who he might join this summer.

Upamecano has been repeatedly linked with a move to Milan over the last few months as the Rossoneri look to give Alessio Romagnoli a reliable long-term centre-back partner.

According to a report from Tuttosport though, Arsenal are ahead of Milan in the race to sign the 21-year-old, who will be sold this summer unless Leipzig can somehow agree a renewal on his deal which expires in 2021 and has a €60m release clause.

However, according to Goal the Gunners are now tracking Reims defender Axel Disasi as there are doubts over their pursuit of Upamecano, and the 22-year-old would be available for less than €20million making him a cheaper option.

The report claims that the north London side will struggle to pay the asking price for Upamecano, meaning that Milan could have a clear path.
