Goal: Milan and Juventus want €45m full-back but Man Utd and Liverpool may have advantage

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Juventus are among the sides interested in a move for Sporting CP left-back Nuno Mendes, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com reported last week that Milan have their eye upon Mendes, who has already become a starter for the Lisbon-based club despite being just 18.

They added that Sporting director Frederic Massara made an attempt in mid-September but they were not open to selling. However, Massara has not abandoned the pursuit and new contacts are expected with the player’s entourage.

According to a report from Goal.com, Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid are also interested as well as Juventus, Arsenal and Milan.

Mendes recently signed a new five-year deal with a €45m release clause but the report adds that he dreams of playing in the Premier League one day, with Manchester United and Liverpool determined to keep following his growth.

To poach the teenager from Sporting, however, ‘several million euros will be needed’, the report claims, but it seems that would be money very well spent.
