Goalkeeper swap rumoured as derby looms: News about the AC Milan Women

By Steph Insixiengmay -

We are approaching a very important summer for the AC Milan Women, and the last couple of weeks has yielded some important news.

Milan have confirmed that starting defender Guðný Árnadóttir recently underwent surgery today to correct an issue in her left shoulder. The team has also stated that she has undergone the process of rehabilitation but did not give a timeframe for her recovery.

According to reports in Italy, there are rumours that AC Milan and their crosstown rivals, Inter, could exchange goalkeepers. The source claims that the two teams have discussed the possibility of exchanging Laura Giuliani for the Nerazzurre’s Francesca Durante.

The exchange, however, seems unlikely between the two teams, given the vital importance of each goalkeeper for their respective squads. However, one shouldn’t rule anything out.

Four days after Milan and Inter’s men’s teams played each other in Europe, the women’s teams will meet each other on the last matchday of Serie A Femminile.

The last time the two teams met ended in a 3-1 victory for the Rossonere. However, Inter have had the upper hand in their recent matches, including a 4-1 drubbing of Milan in January.

The two teams will meet again on May 27th and will play for pride more than anything else. Kickoff time for the game will be at 14:30 CET.
