AC Milan Futuro were relegated through the play-offs. However, there is a chance that they may be given a second chance.

A dismal season came to a head when Milan Futuro were relegated against SPAL in their Serie C relegation play-off last weekend. There is a chance that they may not go down, though.

Today, Gabriele Gravina spoke to Tuttomercatoweb about a range of things, including the potential ‘repechage’ process in the Serie C relegation playoffs, and his comments have been relayed by Milan News.

Will Milan Futuro in the repechage phase be considered as a second team or a relegated team?

“There is a rule that regulates this. Milan Futuro will be treated as a second team and will not participate in the readmission process, they will be put back in the queue within the group of second teams. If there was an organic gap of four teams, the first repechage would be a second team, the second would go to Serie D, the third to a repechage from Serie C, and the fourth would again be a second team.”

Whatever happens, you would still class this season as a failure, regardless of whether they are granted a second chance or not. Ultimately, the team was set up to promote the young Rossonero into senior football. However, many have struggled.

Furthermore, we have often seen players contribute nothing from the senior benches, rather than gain valuable minutes against hardened opponents. A rework of the project is definitely needed.
