A clip has surfaced from the new Manchester City documentary showing Pep Guardiola making an example of AC Milan to Tijjani Reijnders.
Last season was Guardiola’s final one as the head coach of City, and it was an incredible ride. The Spaniard won 20 major trophies during his 10-year tenure as manager there, including a Champions League and six Premier League titles.

However, they were unable to win either in 2025-26, and there were some turbulent times it seems. In City’s newest four-part docuseries ‘A Beautiful Obsession’ – which premiered on Prime Video this month – there is a peek into Guardiola’s final two turbulent and emotional seasons at the club.
During one of the exchanges, an angry Guardiola utters the following: “The big question is, for all Man City players from last season, do you want to play last season? Do you want to believe the last season we had?
“Do you want to play the last season you had at f***ing Milan, that you didn’t qualify for Europe? You want it? You wanna do that? Remind yourselves if you want to live or relive last season. If you don’t want it, you will win my friends.”

As a reminder, Reijnders moved from Milan to Manchester City in the 2025 summer window, with the Dutchman being a sacrifice after failing to qualify for any European competition. He has already departed though, heading for Saudi Arabia, generating a nice sell-on.

Guardiola has big respect for Milan… Saachi is his idol and Maldini almost had him coach Italy. I don’t think many people could have pushed him to take that job.

The point of his comment is how great Milan is historically, and what a clear shame it is that Milan didn’t qualify for Europe. He’s trying to motivate his players and show how even the great can fall. You don’t motivate people by pointing to how Leeds or Nottingham Forest didn’t make Europe.

Don’t worry about bro, people on this forum are dense. He was trying to motivate Tijji by referencing Milan. Milan for it’s stature and knowing Tijji just came over from Milan, a former giant which missed out on Europe…that he’s posing the question if he wants to have that feeling again of missing out on UCL action once more. Well if that doesn’t motivate you then I don’t know what will.
If you know Pep then you know the amount of respect he has for Milan.

If Pep Guardiola were to coach Como, he might not necessarily outperform Cesc Fàbregas. If he had coached Milan during Tijjani Reijnders’s tenure, Milan might have been relegated. He’s great because his team is filled with world-class stars.

Milan of the last 4 years should be a case study of how not to run a Glorious Club. Pep is absolutely right to point that out. And this is at a club that was historically an afterthought in EPL.
It was motivation, not a rant. I swear ppl have never been in a locker room in these comments. There’s much much worse that goes on and what ppl say. Also Pep has the utmost respect for Milan and has mentioned this many times. I recall him saying he always feared having to meet us in the UCL (and he had prime Barca fyi) and gave us props that our stadium shouted very loudly during home games, one of the loudest in fact. Tbh if there was ever a team he’d like to coach it would probably be us

It is Ibra that destroy ACM at that season with interfere fonseca & sergio job, causing player not respect to fonseca especially theo & leao. Ibra also interfere and have fight with allegri last season. As long as this guy still interfere coach then you can say this club have no future anymore
