Tijjani Reijnders is attracting interest from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, but AC Milan are still confident they can get him to renew.
Niccolò Ceccarini, the editor of TMW, recalls that Milan invested around €20m to sign Reijnders from AZ Alkmaar. They believed he was ideal to come in and replace Sandro Tonali, with the fee paid looking like a bargain so far.
With Youssouf Fofana at his side, the Dutchman has been able to express his creative potential to the full. Even with the Netherlands his performances have been positive to the extent Ronald Koeman now considers him a permanent starter.
All this has done nothing but attract the attention of top-tier clubs, starting with Manchester City who ‘have begun to test the waters after Rodri’s injury’. Guardiola ‘considers him an ideal player to maintain the high level of his midfield’ but there ‘have been no concrete steps’ yet.
Milan have a ‘big advantage’ which is the will of the player: the 26-year-old is ‘very happy with the Rossoneri’ and has no intention of moving. Talks are also on over a contract extension that could go until 2030, obviously with a higher salary.
The goal is to find an agreement soon and finalise everything at the end of the season. City are monitoring Samuele Ricci of Torino and Zubimendi of Real Sociedad as potential alternatives.
No point in denying it – from his point, he probably SHOULD leave our American circus in order to develop into a worldclass midfielder. His talented is wasted here.
True. Reijnders reminds me a lot of Paquetá. That type of versatile, technical midfielder who will never truly be unlocked with the Italian way of doing things. Especially at Milan where he has to do so much on his own. If surrounded by top players, in a league with more open play, Reijnders will become a top 5 midfielder in the world in a couple of months
Right…. for all his talent, versatility and technical skill, he’s playing…… where again?Oh that’s right…. West Ham…..
and might be banned from football for life due to gambling scandal
And that matters how good a player he is how? Random irrelevance.
Yes, Premier league is the weakest on the planet.
Paqueta is rubbish, the 2nd best player at a rubbish team that’s getting relegated
Paqueta hhh
With 115 charges of FFP violations, Man City might be the ones getting relegated.
We’ll see, stay tuned in the coming months.
