Gerry Cardinale’s ownership of AC Milan has been constantly criticised in recent months, and Ruud Gullit explained why this may be the case.
There are normally a few differences between social media and stadia, especially when it comes to faith in different people. Social media may tell you to part with X or Y, whilst the stadium still believes. It, then, is very rare for everyone to be in complete agreement.

However, Milan are currently experiencing this when it comes to the management. Across social media, fans constantly state their disappointment with the current regime, and this message can be heard in San Siro and outside of it, as this weekend showed.
It is difficult to work out a fix to the situation. But, action is certainly needed, with the split very easy to see between all parties. Today, Gullit tried to explain why the current regime is failing a little, and his words to Tuttosport have been relayed by Milan News.
“I had a good time at Samp, but my only great love remains Milan. I didn’t expect in the slightest that the Ligurians could find themselves in this situation. I’m very sorry. I think that their problems, with due proportion, are the same as Milan’s: in Italy, the owners of the past are missing.
“Milan would need a figure like Berlusconi, the best president of my career. In short, a man who has Milan at heart and who works to make it competitive in Italy and Europe.
“Milan’s season? The fans are not happy, and I understand them. We are talking about a big club that has accustomed them to fighting every year for the title or at least for a place in the Champions League.
“The fact is that the American owners, as we have seen in the rest of Europe, including the Premier League, are unable to fully understand the DNA of the clubs they find themselves managing. For them, it is just business… It annoys me to see that important figures, like Maldini, who made the history of Milan, have been removed.
“Ibra has found himself playing a role he had never done before, I think he is doing his best. Milan is not a bad team. I honestly don’t know what happened this year.”
What happened… We hired inadequate couches over a non existent sporting department (Furlani can not do it, Ibra is PR).
What we must now do in order to limit damage.
1. ASAP decide a long term couch, no 6 month, or any easy go out deals. Players should know who is the boss.
2. Evaluate current players very carefully, the toxic atmosphere might have a lot to do with certain player performances.
3. Do what you can in the market to avoid another disaster in any direction, from Kalulu to Emerson Rojal, Cukwatze, Musah…
4. And yes, somebody must pay the price for this season. Everything was simply a disaster in all aspects, the merkato, the two couching changes, the winter merkato…
