This morning, AC Milan have agreed a deal with Chelsea to sign Christopher Nkunku, according to Fabrizio Romano.
There have been several ideas for Milan this summer, but the latest could be the last, with things progressing quite quickly in the past 24 hours. Yesterday afternoon, it seemed like Dusan Vlahovic could be the man to arrive.

However, the Serbian has been overshadowed again. This time, by Chelsea’s out-of-favour Frenchman Nkunku. Last night, things advanced rather quickly, and this has continued through to this morning.
Nkunku: Done deal
Now, Fabrizio Romano has given the deal the ‘here we go’ stamp, stating that a deal has been ‘verbally agreed’ between the clubs. The documents are set to be prepared today, and the Rossoneri will pay €35 million plus bonuses.
Additionally, the Frenchman will sign a five-year deal with the club, which was agreed upon yesterday.
With RB Leipzig, Nkunku was fantastic, scoring 36 times in his final two seasons at the club, and this will be the player that the Rossoneri hope to bring to San Siro. With that said, he has failed to score more than three a year in the Premier League. It is certainly a risk, but it could pay off massively.

A terrible panic buy god enough for Dutch or Belgian league, The problem with Nkunku is that he is a shadow of his former self before the injury but any ok EPL player succeeds in Serie A.

Gimenez is no Ibrahimovic or Giroud who can play as a target. Neither is Nkunku so I guess the only target player rumoured is Dovbyk.

He had a major injury and they have 40 first team players. Keep in mind people were posting praises when Gimenez came and no one heard of that guy before. Nkunku is proven in a more advanced league than Serie A. I absolutely don’t understand Vlahovic hype. No top team wants him as he essentially is a more knows version of Gimenez.

Now to the central defender and the striker. Both Christensen and Akanji are viable options imo.

He’s starting as rotation but could end up taking a spot in starting lineup. If we play 4231 he could play with pulisic and Leao. And either dovbyk or Gimenez in front.
Yes, I said it also in the other article. This move only makes some sense if we revert bac to our classic 4231. But it means that all the Allegri work in the pre season will get back to square one. Which is far from ideal.

He is, or was, a very good player at Leipzig. If he can go back to that form it will help Milan, but i don’t think he is a profile of a player that is what Milan needs right now, especially for that kind of money.

If I remember correctly, we wanted Nkunku before he went to Chelsea for 3x the figure on what we planned to propose. He was a flop there, but it won’t be the first time we use Chelsea as a tool to bring player’s valuation down to earth. At this point, we saw more talent coming from the blues than from our own academy…
A very good point about letting Chelsea bring the player’s valuation down. Players who flop at one club are not necessarily flops everywhere. Especially when the player is a forward and the club is Chelsea. Liverpool, Bayern, Man City, and now Milan have reaped huge rewards from former Chelsea “flops.”

Because Milan accepts some risk when buying the player for 20M — instead of 60M+ if he was a standout in the PL. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

You were right.. Kezman, Crespo, Pato, Shevchenko etc, all flop at Chelsea. these doesn’t actually mean they’re bad player or Flop in the previous clubs.
RLC is not a star, no question there, unless you are Allegri – then you can push for the club to pay 50M for him. But he is also not a flop in my opinion. He was a 20M transfer and is a good option for the bench and even as a starter vs certain teams. So I won’t say he is a flop.
Tomori, though not cheap, was crucial part of our defense in his first couple of seasons, and even though I find myself more and more frustrated with his attitude in the last couple of years, he is still sadly the most reliable in Defense (looking awkwardly at Gabbia’s recent form dip).

Like Z wrote, Allegri might convert Leao as a striker. That’s the only thing that makes sense with this transfer
If that’s the plan, I believe he will fail successfully. This works out well only for fast vertical passes in counter attacks. But he can still be a winger and stay in front of everyone else for those occasions. Otherwise he is not a good finisher – I hope (but I doubt) this will change and he has actively tried to not play headers up until this summer (even though he has the physical attributes for it).
Not really sure about this move. Way too risky. Way too expensive. Hoped that it’s loan with option to buy, but no. And not really the profile we need. I was optimistic at the early of the mercato as we looked more targeted and calculated.
But after this striker fiasco, we’re back to square one again.

This mercato went from an 8 with buying Modric, Ricci and Jashari to a 7 with Estupinan and Athekame, De Winter and now 6 with the likes of Nkunku and lack of proper planing before selling.

If Allegri isn’t on board on any of these arrivals he should just flip his middle finger to the management and call it quits and step down. Personally I wouldn’t blame him one bit if that is the case.
He seemed desperate to get back to management in a top club so I think it will happen in a few months. He’ll try and then begin flaming the whole management like Conte usually did. We’ll see when the window ends, but if there are no proper signings in these few days I expect the press conferences to get really interesting if things don’t go well.

Kidding aside I’ve been an AC Milan fan for 36 years and never had I thought I would ever say that I would refuse to work at the club I love if I was a professional player. In fact I would have killed for that opportunity previously.

Hard to predict when our transfer window consisted of a 2 month drama to get one player from Belgium for 40M€ (I think we paid double from what he is worth) and now this panic in the last 5-6 days, to get the players we should have gotten in July. There were so many opportunities and now you get leftovers to pick from.
I probably should have written considering refusing but yeah time will tell. Jashari might come good and I do think we paid a bit above his value but probably not twice the value. Overall the Mercato seemed to start out well at least with the Ricci deal but as things stands right now it seems we are just trying to skimp through at random targets..
I wonder if a future deal for Leao was discussed to lower the price. Chelsea wanted 50 mil. Let´s hope a real striker still arives because Nkunku is basically back-up for Leao. A better back-up than Okafor. If we add a striker things look better than before. At the moment only the Dovbyk route seems to be alive.

Great player if he rediscovers his Leipzig days, he was unplayable during that time. If he hits off in Italy he will be even better than Pulisic. My main concern is he coming because Allegri wants him or is tare/Moncada buying hoping he fits the system? That’s the biggest concern. As a player his very good.
More likely is Tare has his head in his hands in is considering his position. This has the three stooges written all over it.
Coach is there to work with what he has available as resources. If the players bought fit his system, he needs to make it work and be a bit more fluid based on their strengths and weaknesses. It’s not a FIFA game where you are the manager and everything is decided by you alone. Tomorrow you can leave and the club has to be able to continue easily with another coach with different style of play and different requirements.
To be fair, we have a decent enough squad as individual qualities to challenge for or be close behind the title contenders. It’s his job to make an organized team out of those individuals and for this year at least finish in top 4. No matter if Vlahovic, RLC, Fofana or Rabiot are in the team or not – he has to make it work.

Leao is still the best player in this squad, he thrives at LWF in 3 man forward so i don’t know why allegri want to experiment or in this case sacrifice Leao.
If Allegri knew he wanted to play with 3-5-2 they might as well sell leao and pulisic instead of forcing them to play as strikers.
Looking at the squad 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 would make much more sense with depth in every position except maybe for fullbacks.

What a weird, weird choice. A guy with no place at Chelsea, no obvious tactical fit in our lineup and a horrendous recent injury history but, instead of angling for a loan, we’ve gone in with a huge bid (by our standards).

Nkunku is a fantastic player. With okafor and possibly chukwueze leaving he’s a great replacement for them. Miles better and if he regains form he’s just as good as pulisic. My only question is what formation are we planning here? We still need a target man? If vlahovic is deemed impossible then go for arokodore.

Well if you look at his “name value” then some will say this is a great signing (and he could be) – BUT – he has A LOT to prove as he hasn’t done much since leaving Leipzig and couldn’t get a starting spot w Chelsea.
