Santiago Gimenez here we go

Romano: ‘Here we go!’ – Milan agree deal worth over €35m for Gimenez

Finally, after days of trying to reach the valuation of Santiago Gimenez, AC Milan are set to sign the Feyenoord star in a deal worth more than €35 million.

The Gimenez saga has gone on uncomfortably long, and for some, it has probably brought back flashbacks of the Joshua Zirkzee deal in the summer. Despite the player’s wishes, Milan fell at the financial block, but this has not occurred this time around.

Instead, the club have managed to conclude a deal at the price requested by the Dutch outfit, an immensely commendable task.

As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Feyenoord have accepted a bid from the Rossoneri this morning, worth more than €35 million, including bonuses. The Dutch outfit will also retain an interest in the striker’s future, with ‘an important resale clause’ also added to the deal.

Confidence about the addition has been growing in the past few days and reports from Casa Milan state that CEO Giorgio Furlani was present until the late hours of the night to seal the deal, showing the significance of this deal in the eyes of the club.

Today, the striker will arrive in Milano, as reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, and as Romano states, ‘Here we go!’, the Gimenez era has begun.

  1. An impact addition after so many painful and frustrating measures by the management that costed us the season and above all the morale and harmony. A stitch in time thing!

  2. So we swapped a striker for arguably a better striker who will most likely start the derby tomorrow or is it going to be Abraham ? Is Giménez still injured or is he ok ?
I HOPE he lives up to the hype arround him and I can only wish him good luck.
That leaves us with the midfield now I guess… whatever good a striker is, what can he do if there is no service from the midfield ?

          1. I think I need to admit that I underestimated Tonali’s significance to us. His working rate allowed Theao to focus on attacking and “enjoying” themselves. Not that there is no one in the midfield (and I do mean NO ONE) who is willing to defend for “the lazier ones” it’s all going to h3ll. We’re conceding left and right. Why? Because the midfielders aren’t covering for some others.

      1. In Europe we one of the best when it comes to create but we didn’t have someone to finish most of the games we created 5 or 6 target on goal which is unacceptable

    1. Santiago has a minor injury so likely won’t feature in the Derby.

But I’m pleased we got someone even from a “weaker league” that has potential to be a regular goalscorer. As morata was more of a journeyman/link forward rather than clinical.

      Forza Milan

    2. Abraham will start and Jovic will be replacing him after several wasted attempts. Or actually… I don’t think Tammy will even manage to get into scoring chances as we’re playing against Inter and our midfield is crap.

    3. Well well well. Finally this cheap owner spent 35M on one transfer. While I’m happy we finally spent $$ on a young in prime striker –
(Although it should have been done in the summer instead of cheaping it out w Morata and Tammy.) I am not satisfied at all. Big clubs that want to win Titles do this all the time. Feels like we have to be grateful this happened lol. Crazy. Our expectations are so LOW w this trash owner. 35M on a quality starting player should be the norm, not the exception.

Now let’s see if it continues. Ricci is next and he costs 35-40M easily. Will we spend it??? Or will we go back to our 20M policy – cause we all know how splendidly that has turned out.

So like I said – IF we are serious about competing for TITLES – buying players for 35M plus should be the norm. Time will tell if Gerry is willing to cut into his profit margins and help build a consistent winner or not. Let’s go Gerry – we are sitting 8th and out of UCL. Spend that $$$!

      1. Even buying one real player each window for 35-40m is better than spreading it to sign two or three gambles. Sure one of them might turn great but we ain’t Fiorentina. Milan need guarantees.

Selling Tonali for 70m and signing 3 players was a mistake.

    1. Well they are selling Tomori and Morata, so not really spending money, just exchanging assets..
Anyway hopefully he will do well, certainly its not like we are getting Osimehn but he is young and has talent.

What happens to our defence though? With Tomori leaving we will only have 3 CB. Ok walker can play there but he is supposed to be our RB.
Its clear the ownership don’t want to spend a penny so have been looking to offload anyone to raise funds for this.
I just hope we won’t have an injury in defence because we will be very very short there.
1 left back, in terrible form
2 right backs in Calabria and Walker
      3 centre backs

      1. Tomori not leaving. He reject spurs offer. Who want to play for the team 15th in EPL ? Even Tel reject big money from spurs and choose sit on bayern muenchen bench. Morata & Calabria not giving much money for transfer fee, Morata just 18 month loan with option to buy 10m euro , while calabria almost free to bologna. Santi gimenez are purely money from ACM without selling player cash. This transfer also benefit for ACM because weaken opponent in play off CL feyenoord

  3. Great news! A significant addition to fill our huge black hole in the middle of attack. Let’s hope he works out, but at the very least he should be a clear upgrade on our previous options. The protests and the quality of our game really seemed to wake up the mgmt.

  4. I hope he turns out a world class, because at this point i dont see him as one and also his numbers are not that of phenomenons… i pray he proves me an idiot

  5. I hope this is start of new Milan era.
We missed some good opportunities like Buongiorno. Now we need to find strong centre back pair.
For me Gabbia, Thiaw and Pavlovic seems like decent back up options.
100 million for strong CB pair.
Kyle and Theo can be short terms options on backs position. Midfield is OK.

Sale of Tomori is necessary and in the summer sale or loan for Chukwueze and Okafor is also necessary.
We can keep Abraham or bring stronger back up for Gimenez.

And new era from 2025 summer can start.
This season should be forgotten. Even if we don’t catch UCL next year, team must fight for scudetto.

    1. I would rather get Salamakers back to replace Chuk. In fact Sale can cover both wings and he is in excelent form. As for Gimenez back up we have Colombo next season who is also doing ok right now.

  6. The management are the problem and i see reasons while they sack Maldini, the management are lowball, they sell players for good price then they buy cheap and lazy players to recruit, if you want to make a statement signing then sign gyokeres rather than Gimenez, buy quality players for example Julian Álvarez of Atletico Madrid, he boosts the attacking play of Atletico, they are balling now

  7. I’m glad to see the management actually spent money and closed a deal for once. I’m really not optimistic about Santi as a player, but I hope I’m wrong.

  8. Happy for this , but the next purchase should be Theo position. That wing is leaking goals. What else can be so frustrating if you Labour to score goals and someone is cancelling out the goals with poor performance. After this should be Fofana and Rejinder positions

  9. Thank God…at last.

Welcome to Milan Gimenez. I believe he is a good striker for us.

Well lets hope, next Ricci and Joao Felix will come.

  10. Always risky when CF are signed from Dutch league, for every R9, Suarez, Ibra there are duds too. I hope he continues his scoring form for us. We need a 20+ goal CF, something we havent had since Ibra. Hopefully he is the one.

    1. Milan don’t play a style that produces a 20 goals a season striker. You’re about to find that out when Gimenez starts to struggle to score consistently.

  11. Gimenez is an upgrade to what we are having all season, no disrespect to Morata who has won alot in his career, but he was never an option in the first place. Just our dumb management trying their trial & error experiment on the team. Forza Milano Always

  12. I wish him all the good luck in the world here.

Although I’m not very excited (just me trying not to get my expectations high for him seeing he’s coming from a lesser league) about his signing, with the “ugly” way we have been playing the last few weeks, it might be more of the same.

Hopefully he won’t be another Piatek that we will be looking to offload after one year.
