Milan signed Theo Hernandez from Real Madrid for just €20m back in 2019. Since then, the left-back’s value has almost tripled and it’s clear that Paolo Maldini secured a great bargain, convincing the player to join.
The Frenchman’s career never took off at Real Madrid and after a loan spell at Real Sociedad, the Bernabeu side decided to part ways with him. One of their bigger mistakes in recent years, that’s for sure, but it’s certainly positive for Milan.
In an interview with SportWeek (via MilanNews), the weekly edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport, Hernandez was asked about his time at Real Madrid and why he didn’t work out. He also shared his thoughts on Zinedine Zidane and Stefano Pioli.
“Real? Maybe I was too young, if you don’t play it is difficult to prove yourself. Pioli immediately gave me confidence. And I got excited. If he is more likeable than Zidane? Yes, have you seen the stories? We have fun. Zidane is also nice, but he talks less,” he stated.
Hernandez has recovered from his stomach issues and will be available for Milan’s encounter with Napoli tomorrow. He’s expected to play from start and although Diogo Dalot did well last time out, it’s a big difference.
