Hernandez on SPAL win: “I didn’t expect to have such an impact here”

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan beat SPAL by three goals to nil earlier this evening, securing their spot in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. In addition to Samu Castillejo and Kris Piatek, left-back Theo Hernandez also got on the scoresheet.

The defender has now scored five goals in all competitions for the Rossoneri, making him the joint-top goalscorer along with Piatek. Taking his position into consideration, it’s quite an extraordinary achievement by the former Real Madrid man.

On the other hand, Stefano Pioli’s system does allow him to move forward. Following today’s win, the Frenchman spoke to MilanTV (via MilanNews.it) about his impact. As he revealed, he didn’t expect things to go this well.

“The goal? I’m very happy, I hope to continue like this. I didn’t expect to have such an impact here. I want to demonstrate all my qualities. I’m working well, I’m in a good moment in my career.

“The team? We are in a great moment after the victory against Cagliari and that of tonight, we hope to continue this way,” he concluded.

The Rossoneri will face Torino in the quarter-finals of the competition. However, now they will have to shift focus to the league, as a clash with Udinese awaits on Sunday afternoon at the San Siro. Hopefully, they can continue on the same path.
