Rasmus Hojlund is now open to joining AC Milan after realising that his time at Manchester United is over for the time being.

Over the past few days, it has been reported that Milan and United made good progress in talks over a deal for Hojlund. However, the final step to complete things was the player accepting the move, which hadn’t been forthcoming yet.

Hojlund gives green light

According to the Manchester Evening News, Hojlund is now in fact ‘open to joining AC Milan’. United are ‘confident a deal can be struck with Milan’, and there is even the possibility that it could be a permanent deal.

The Red Devils value Hojlund at around £30million (around €34.6m) and Milan ‘are seeking a loan move’ for the 22-year-old. The Dane was supposedly keen to stay at Old Trafford and fight for a spot but has now changed his mind, realising his current situation.

Benjamin Sesko was introduced to United fans in a friendly against Fiorentina over the weekend after his €80m move from RB Leipzig, and Hojlund was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw. Ruben Amorim even used playmakers Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha up front in the last two games.

MEN state that ‘sources close to Hojlund felt he would have to leave if Sesko came in’ even though he ‘is unhappy at United seemingly forcing him out’. However, his stance of wanting to remain has now softened, and things with Milan could accelerate.

  1. Although I prefer Vlahovic this transfer makes sense. We will have two young, hungry and talented forwards with different characteristic competing with each other for the starting spot, providing a healthy competetion striker department. If possible, I would prefer the paid loan with an option path.

  2. Not permanent, this one has to be loan with option. Every other club seems to be able to agree this, look at Barca taking Rashford from United on similar terms (or Chelsea taking Sancho last season and sending him back 😆)

Hojlund could be a hit or a massive bust. Loan+ option is the way. United want him off their books so arent in a strong bargaining position

  3. Bringing in a top level Italian tactician, summer rebuild, losing best player of last season, signing a northener who underperformed at United…

    are we winning Scudetto lmao?!

    1. Pulisic was the best player last season, not Reijnders and his sale helped wiped out debts.

The squad has been improved and underperforming players have moved on – Theo, Thiaw and maybe the biggest donkey of them all, Musah.

Ricci, Jashiri and De Winter are all international class players and they’re all young. WTF are you complaining about? This has been a fantastic mercato.

      1. “WTF are you complaining about? This has been a fantastic mercato.”

Maybe he though it was realistic to expect signing Mbappe, Haland & Yamal…?

      2. yo, yo… I was referencing Napoli (Conte – Allegri; summer rebuild; Osi – Tiji; Scott McTomminay – Hojlund)… and they won Scudetto

maybe easy on the steroids?! never complained about mercato

      3. Musah is a donkey? Apparently you know more from watching television than Max does working with him in practice. That said, as he is far down the list, I would rather see Musah go out on loan to a team with experience in developing midfield players, and then take a look again next summer to make a decision.

  4. Allegri + Tare duo is #1 signing for us!
Hopefully in the coming days we’ll get rid of Musah, Morata, Terraciano , Bondo and parasite Bennacer

    1. Morata is a done deal, just waiting for documents. Only reason he left Gala. Como paid the release clause.

Cremonese has dry loan deals for Bondo and Terracianno. I think since we are about to sell Musah for 30M, they are thinking of either replacing him with a new player or keeping Bondo.

Bennacer, Adli and Chukwueze are the ones we should worry. Marseille are trying to get us to accept yet another loan+option, which is just annoying at this point. 10M isn’t astronomical money to pay for him, ffs…

      1. Chuk still can be useful from time to time. Benny and Adli are worrying. Both have been removed from our official squad list. Benny’s number has been taken over. Looks like there’s no other option than to deal with another dry loan for those 2.

  5. Loan with option (with paid loan + salary paid) is fair enough. And I personally think Hojlund’s style is more suitable for Serie A.

  6. At least with Højlund, you get a player who always gives 100% and works all game. Not much attitude problem either. But he needs to find his goalscoring form.
He can score goals, even scored a lot for the national team at the beginning. But all went bad after he joined Man Utd
