Rasmus Hojlund’s time at Manchester United looks to have come to an end, as he will not be in their squad to face Arsenal.
Milan are looking to sign a striker before the opening game of the Serie A season in six weeks, given they currently have only Santiago Gimenez. Hojlund is the main name that has been linked in recent weeks, though there have been doubts about his willingness to move.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the Dane doesn’t want to end up in a situation where his future is uncertain yet again next summer. As such, he would like a permanent move, or a buy-out clause of €40m to improve his chances of staying.
On his social media, Fabrizio Romano reports: “Rasmus Højlund and Manchester United, it’s definitely over. Højlund won’t be part of Man United squad against Arsenal as club sends clear message pushing for his exit. United open to permanent and also loan deal, Højlund will assess his options.”
With Hojlund now completely outside of United’s plans, developments can be expected in the coming days. However, the word ‘options’ seems to suggest that Milan are not the only club in the running.

Most people on this site frequent it a lot and generally know whats circling around Milan, so these “reviews” before the actual scoop are completely unnecessary and just take up space just for the sake of it.

I’m sick and tired of Hojlund. He evidently doesn’t want to come to Milan, supposedly because it’s not a permanent deal. I’d like to tell him “Well, if you think you’re so good, then, last chance: accept an obligation to buy if you produce 25+ goals + assists to match the usual Pulisic and Rafa numbers; with that, Milan would want to keep you anyway. If you can’t produce that unlike some of our players have routinely done, then yes, it’s a temporary deal until Camarda is back and you’re lucky to get it because you’re a reject at your current club.” If his answer to that is that he’s still “evaluating his options” then say “OK, we said last chance; so now we no longer want you; have a nice life” and drop him immediately. Go for Jackson or Sorloth. If ultimately all fails then just to get a warm body in case Santi gets injured, get Krstović and use Okafor or Rafa as false 9 if needed. Period, full stop.
We don’t need a player who doesn’t want to play for us. It’s bad for the locker room and for team chemistry. He’s most likely somewhat better (or less bad) than some of the other options but with this attitude, thanks but no, thanks.
Some understanding that he might want more guarantees not to be in the same situation next year is reasonable, but by now and with the window closing, it’s becoming ridiculous. He’s not even called up to their season opener and he’s still “evaluating his options”??? What is he, delusional? Pathologically narcissistic? By the way, his companions don’t seem to like him according to the British press.
And then, he isn’t even that good. People who know him well always talk of technical limitations. He’s being hired to be a backup for Santi, not to be a starter, and he’s lucky to be #2 at Milan since at ManU the club told him he’s #5.
At this point, regardless of his skills or lack thereof, I’m rooting for this deal to fail so that we get someone else who actually feels excited about playing for Milan, even if less skilled. Locker room and chemistry are just as important as footballing skills. We want our players to be happy at Milan, not some entitled brat who resents coming to Milan. We had enough behavioral problems last season. Tare, please drop this guy now!
I watched UTd against Arsenal and they were awful. Sesko, no Sesko. Hojlund, no Hojlund… Pointless to stay there. Not sure what Rasmus is trying to prove by staying there. Utd is where careers go to die at this point …
I watch it too; in my opinion they weren’t as awful. They had 22 attempts, 7 on target (versus 3 for Arsenal), hit the post, had bigger xG and dominated possession and all passing and dueling stats. Yes, they were plagued by poor finishing, and that happens at the beginning of a season when players are not fully calibrated. All things considered and given that they were playing against a pretty good team, I expect ManU to finish the EPL season much better than the last one when they were 15th. By the way, I’m not a ManU supporter. I’m actually an Arsenal supporter (obviously less supported by me than AC Milan but Arsenal are my second team). Still, while I’m happy to have earned all 3 points, to be honest I thought we didn’t deserve to win this game.
Anyway, if the Hojlund deal concludes, let’s hope he was terrible last season just because the whole ManU were terrible, and he does better for Milan. But like I said, I’m kind of rooting for this deal to fail because I don’t trust this Hojlund dude at all and I prefer to have players who are actually excited about playing for us. It’s enough to compare Hojlund’s attitude to Jashari’s.
