Massimiliano Allegri is now the leading candidate to become AC Milan’s next head coach, a report claims, and some predictions can be drawn on how he would line the team up.

According to Calciomercato.com, Allegri is currently the ‘hottest name’ in terms of who will coach Milan from 2025-26, given that Sergio Conceicao is currently expected to leave the club via the break clause in his contract.

The former Juventus coach has clear ideas and well-defined tactical concepts, but for some time he has been studying and confiding in friends and acquaintances that he has ideas on how this team can be put on the field.

It is inevitable that a lot will have to change and that a lot will also be based on the choices that will have to be made on the players whose contracts expire in June 2026 such as Theo Hernandez, and the role of other stars like Rafael Leao.

Regarding Leao, his position could become more central and less spread out on the wing where, instead, Christian Pulisic could be free to roam. The USA international is seen as a real wildcard and he offers sacrifice in the non-possession phase.

The real tactical doubt will be Tijjani Reijnders and whether he keeps his pure playmaker role. For Allegri, he could have a role like Adrien Rabiot did at Juventus, but to allow this it will be necessary to invest in the a defensive midfielder to put next to Youssouf Fofana.

Allegri has then often and willingly alternated between a three and a four-man defence, but assuming the permanent signing  of Kyle Walker and the addition of a left-back other than Theo Hernandez, it seems easier to hypothesise a 4-3-3.

Whatever the tactical development of Milan, however, today Allegri is considered the most ready coach to manage this group, to give the team a defensive organisation that can then enhance the attacking production.

  1. Taking Allegri back, will be a big mistakes. Did his return with Juve was a good one? Maccini return at Inter didn’t go too well, Spaletti return to Roma didn’t go well. So why are we looking back when those return have shown doesn’t translate to past success. I’d take Sarri or Bologna coach before him.

    1. Sacchi and Capello return didn’t go well either. But the problem wasn’t these coaches returning. The real problem was that the clubs were in a mess and didn’t invest enough to build a competitive squad.

If Milan get the right sporting director like Tony D’Amico or Giovanni Sartori and invest properly in getting quality experience players who can improve the squad level then Allegri will be the perfect fit for Milan.

But if the management doesn’t fix that then it would be a disaster with the current squad.

Personally , I would prefer Milan getting Tony D’Amico with Francesco Farioli as our new coach.

          1. Listen man, I understand you like horrible Allegri, they guy that has mediocre 100 year old tactics. But even you can’t tell me that he is the right guy to rebuild a team. He did try at Juventus and did nothing. 0. He had the MOST EXPENSIVE TEAM IN SERIE A. Not a trash squad like you wrote the other day. THE MOST EXPENSIVE.

          2. @Igor
I am actually not a big fan of his. But I think what is happening is that Elliot is trying to rebuild this team fast and sell it on a high. Max is not a long-term solution, but in the immediate future, he can solidify defense, play boring football, but get results. And that is exactly what Elliot is looking for.

And if that’s the case, I would rather we took Conte.

      1. Milan needs a coach that can create something out of nothing. Get much more out of the team he has. Not some guy that can’t do s**t if stars don’t align and his wife has menstruation the wrong day.

      2. Yes! D’Amico & Farioli are my top picks too. Unfortunately, Farioli’s star is rising fast and he’s on course to win the Eredivisie. Very little chance he goes from Ajax in the CL to Milan not in the CL. I bet he does one more season at Ajax and then if he defends his title and does well in the CL he’ll move on to the PL. Another case of being to slow on the draw for us, as with Maresca. I don’t even think we seriously looked at Maresca. Maybe they’re not interested in up and coming Italian coaches. Only old ones or foreign ones.

  2. The guy that took over Contes Juventus and made it worse? That is the rebuild guy? He never rebuilt a team in his life. He did try recently at Juventus and failed. Also threw Pirlo out of Milan. A joke, not a top manager. Only Furlani can have an idea like this. His gameplay is like Italian football 60 years ago. Honestly, Capello would be better.

      1. To be fair, merdas across the street did the transition from Conte to Inzaghi properly. A well thought decision because formation was same, Simone only implemented his ideas.

        1. But Inzaghi built his team on Conte’s foundation. I don’t think inzaghi is anywhere near as successful as he has been had Conte, not solidified Inter before him.

          1. That’s what I said, the transition was smooth because Inazghi already had foundations. The system was there, Inzaghi only put his footrprint to it. We also had foundations. But these clowns tore it apart and so here we are.

      2. Well you can say no one but when has Allegri built a team from scratch and did something? So ideally Milan needs to get Conte, not this joke of a guy.

        1. I don’t disagree. And it will probably come down to the salary. If they are both asking for the same money, then of course I want conte.

      3. I can’t explain how much I dislike Allegri as a manager. Boring football, 0 new ideas in his entire career. Always gets a top player out of team to “prove a point” and so on. There are 30 year old managers that are better than him.

  3. I may be totally wrong about this. But I feel the absence of international football was a huge component of Napoli’s success this year, and quite possibly Milan’s success next year. Having a full week to prepare for most games, and having a fresh squad for each game will be a big advantage. I feel whoever the coach is…will field a squad that is more sound and prepared than this year’s squad (not that that is a high bar to cross). I feel the key is for Redbird is to not have a fire sale of core players…which means they will have to eat profits for the long term success of the team. forza forza forza

    1. It depends on the bench. You might be right but from the look of the Napoli bench + injured players they probably could do it. They won the title with 20 points lead and played up until CL quarterfinals against Milan without problems, just a few years ago. With most of the team same. Right?

  4. Allergi is a plug and play coach that only work on established teams. He saids so himself. He doesn’t care about formation or tactics. He takes over solid projects which slowly decline under him. He will have us continue to play like we always have and not implement any new ideas.

  5. The innovative and modern vision of Milan for Redbird is hiring Allegri?????? Hahahahaahaha!!

    What a fkn $h*t show.

Sell the fkn club you a$$ clowns

  6. No to Allegri this is what Acmilan must do for conceicao First is that Acmilan must allow Sergio Conceicao till next season Secondly Acmilan must sign attacking midfielders and wingers for conceicao to suit our 4-2-3-1 system. Then we need to change pulisic position to right wing then we need a strong perfect attacking midfielder like Dani olmo let’s scout sign Solid players I can bet Acmilan problem is not coach is wrong players. Fonseca went to Lyon now look at how Lyon is playing perfectly so they are far better than Acmilan Sergio conceicao and Fonseca they are Good type of coach so our issues is wrong players let’s observe our transfer Market you will see That Acmilan will be Good to go.

  7. Disaster if happen. His old tactic already outdated. How can you forcing defensive style with leao & Theo in squad? Both are weak on defense also leao are bad play centrally, he can only play as LW. Need to announce new DS first and let see what happen at end of season, maybe Sergio can stay if ACM win coppa Italy? Thats auto EL participation or new coach will coming rebuild ACM without participation in CL / EL

  8. Hey guys, don’t worry. This is not even worth speculating about. Because, you know, with the management we have it’s GUARANTEED that they will select THE WORST POSSIBLE OPTION for both head coach and sporting director.

If Allegri is bad and is the worst one, then mark my words: it will be Allegri, guaranteed.

They will NEVER go for actually good options like Conte or De Zerbi.

  9. The solution is De Zerbi.. he is a innovator, he find talents, his teams play modern football..
I dont see anything against him..
Bit the problem is that he needs time and project, money and trust..
