In AC Milan’s draw against Juventus, there were a few worries that were identified. However, the biggest comes in the goals department.
Milan created more than 4 xG in their first two games of the season, scoring four goals. Against Juventus, though, the performance was noticeably different. Though, surely this was expected against a much different opponent, with more on the line.

Nevertheless, it’s been seen as a betrayal by some…
Data betrays Amorim
Gazzetta dello Sport states its case from the off with the headline, ‘the data that alarms Amorim’. Immediately after that, the report focuses on the xG from the draw against Juventus; just 0.11, lower than in every game last season.
For some, it’s a betrayal of the manifesto which Amorim swears by. He promised ‘dominant, attacking football’, but the showing in Turin was anything but. He acknowledged that it wasn’t his game plan, but the worry is the weighty statistic of the expected goals.
The Bianconeri had 1.59 by the end of the game, a trouncing on the numbers. Gazzetta suggest that the Rossoneri should never fall below 1 xG, given the demands of their coach. So, this substantial drop was questionable and a ‘major red flag’.

Yet, against Torino and Venezia, the figures were much higher at 2.15 and 2.21. It’s conditional; sometimes you just need to get results and most would’ve taken the point against Juventus.
It may not have been ‘Amorim-ball’, but it may be a significant point in the long run against an established outfit and with the issues that remain on Amorim’s mind – such as the inability to use Christian Pulisic, who would surely have an impact on the attacking output.

Well a few things, started defensive players in attacking positions. And the data didn’t capture things properly. It happens. Cisse’s goal alone would account for something closer to 1 xG or at least greater than 0.1 xG. So sometimes they can get it wrong given it’s a shot at that close a range. That being said, yes we did not have the scoring chances we had in the first two games. Probably because those teams were weaker and we could create more chances we bucked up on a proper team. You have to give it up to Juve who played well too.
What defensive players started in attacking positions?
Rabiot, SalADmaker are attackers?
Cant wait for people to melt down here over GdS articles again
The simple answer is this: the players are not good enough. To expect more of them is to live in a parallell reality.
💯 Amorim does’nt figured out yet that Rlc-Estpunian-Musah can’t be even bench player.
Numbers are just numbers.. who cares what the excpected goals are? We got 1 point away to a direct rival.
New coach, a few new players introduced in the team, a new system and way of play, a few of the older players either tried in new positions or still out for various reasons…would it hurt to give the coach a bit of time, especially if we are yet to lose a game…can we allow him to put his print on the team…and any suggestions that we look anything like the low block lethargic Allegri ball of last season probably still need to recover from the shock of the season past.
Meanwhile gds is acting like inter beat RM. gds literally sucking a blue and black d**k talking about how inter played so well and is celebrating a loss like a victory. Gotta love that loser mentality
Meanwhile our best attacking player can’t get on the pitch. This genius of a coach thinks Saleamakers, Rabiot, RLC and Cisse are better options…
This coach learned nothing from his humiliating failure at United.
If you’re that concerned about data suddenly, then treat it as it is – a sample size of one game.
Because Juve is not a low level. Not only they would never let you attack like that but also they will easily expose you if you try it even for 5 minutes. Look at the space in midfield as soon as they recovered from press. We are lucky it ended in a draw. They didnt even have full squad.
and you think Milan had a full squad, are you high? do you only keep track of Juve players and make it up as you go about Milan players?
Milan has Pulisic recovering from injury and Gabbia missing. Juventus had 8 players missing of which 4 starters and another 3 recovering like Pulisic. Stop being a pu**y every single time. 😂😂
No, Milan has Pulisic being benched by an idiot coach. He’s been fit enough to be on the bench for every match this season and not played a minute. That’s a coaching decision.
Recovering from fractured leg. So a bone in his leg was fractured against Belgium. Couldn’t train properly in preseason. Don’t make up things. Id*ot coach?
Yes, and people recover from injuries. It’s not the preseason. He’s been back training with the team for over a month. You are the one making things up, pretending to know Pulisic’s fitness level. You don’t take someone on the bench if they are not able to play any minutes. It’s a coaching decision and an idiotic one.
” You are the one making things up, pretending to know Pulisic’s fitness level. ”
But you do? Have you been watching him practice? Please do tell us if he’s at 70%, 80%, 90%, 95% or even 99% or 100% fit now.
You mean Pulisic is solution but Cissé is doing very well
