A deal between AC Milan and Roma for their respective strikers dominated talk of deadline day. However, nothing ever finalised.
The swap for Santiago Gimenez and Artem Dovbyk was on and off several times yesterday, and even throughout the last week. It ended with the Mexican staying put, and Massimiliano Allegri will have to work with the striker now.

No moves
There were several ideas thrown about in the past week, with a swap deal considered, as well as a loan purely for Dovbyk. However, nothing ever occurred, with Gazzetta dello Sport stating that contacts were regularly stop-start.
Gimenez’s desire remained to stay in the Rossoneri colours, which he grew up dreaming of, and whilst Allegri does not see him as the ideal, his ethic to grow and impress for his team could see the Italian make the best of him.
Though there is the risk that he could become some sort of ‘luxury reserve’ for the Diavolo, too, this will be another drive to impress. After all, he chose to fight for his future rather than completely open up to a move away.
Even then, though, things failed only really when it came to finances. There was no agreement on the buy clauses within the potential loan deals, and developing both players without an option to buy serves no one any help. Then, ultimately, time ran out.
Gimenez will be the happiest party, given that he can continue to try to prove himself for his boyhood club. However, the pressure is now on for him to start returning his investment; Milan need him to.
I do like Santi. He has something really valuable, passion for the club.
I’m glad Gimenez stayed, but we have to work on his confidence, seeing as everyone seems intent on destroying it. Would have happily seen Dovbyk as an alternative but glad the swap didn’t go through.
Really think that Leao is planned as the primary CF going forward, but we’ll have to see over the next couple of days.
We have to work on his first touch, right foot, hold up play, link up play, staying on side, finishing chances, etc. There are glaring flaws and holes in his game. His confidence is the least of the problems.
At this point, I think it’s easier to point what’s NOT to work on.
Since when Gimenez is italian? But if he is, he could be resemblance of bobo vieri.
Thank goodness. That’s would be the dumbest deal of the decade.
Giminez needs support and confidence from the club wich he doesnt get, but I hope his redemption will be Great.
Choosing between Gimenez and Dovbyk is like being stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Theoretically, Gimenez is a better player but since his arrival he hasn’t improved. Yea we can say it hasn’t even been a year in a chaotic team on it’s second manager since he came. But his first touch is still poor. He still isn’t strong on the ball and he still can’t hold up play well. All things he has to improve on since for the next 6mo’s (at least) he will be the only recognized 9 we have. No idea what Nkunku is supposed to do.
