AC Milan have ‘found the best solution’ to their midfield this summer, it seems. Something which could alleviate other worries.
There are multiple different opinions surrounding the Milan summer window. Most believe that it was an average, perhaps even good mercato. However, the saving grace is definitely the midfield; without that, the Rossoneri would struggle.

As Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) write, it ‘shines brightly’ both literally and when looking at honours. Luka Modric, Ballon d’Or, multiple Champions Leagues and La Ligas, then Adrien Rabiot, who boasts another 21 different trophies.
Now, this could be the ‘solution’ to the leadership issues which have been seen of late. In theory, it should be the case, but things must be tested and solved.
Variety of solutions
The starting idea, if everyone were fit, would be Modric and Rabiot alongside someone like Ardon Jashari or even Samuele Ricci. The former was the most expensive signing of the midfield this summer, then the latter was a long-term target.
A complete revolution compared to last season’s core, and a better core at that now. Modric may need rest now and again, but there is a plethora of talent behind him that can bridge the gap, or even take the reins when required.
Latest signing
The move for Rabiot was a difficult one, but he was announced late on Monday evening. However, it should be worth it. At Juventus, the Frenchman was a regular under Massimiliano Allegri, whilst he also provides general quality.
Allegri wished for him this summer and insisted that he could be the fix for the midfield, and the Rossoneri eventually got it done. He brings depth, experience and even goals (he scored 10 for Marseille last season).
Interchangeability
Then, there are the remainers: Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Youssouf Fofana. So far, their first games have been questionable this season, but Allegri believes they can manage 15 goals between them this season, after Lecce, that is now 14.
Regardless of their goals, they can add other characteristics to an already unique midfield, ensuring that Allegri has the tools to build what he needs. The midfield can come to the rescue, after all, it is now deemed to be a ‘super midfield’.

Super midfield but no strikers and a stable CB,
means wingers would shift to attack and midfielders would shift to defence.
Can’t see Allegry adjusting the situation so waiting for January it is.
But then again, Allegri is a FIFA-certified, scudetto-winning coach and you’re not.
FIFA-certified, scudetto-winning coaches get sacked sometimes.
Hey! Same Allegri was sacked by Juve last time around. Jose Mourinho just got sacked on Friday.
Still those sacked coaches have more credibility than keyboard warriors at sempremilan. 🙂
We literally don’t have players for any possible formation there is. All they had to do in the last days is to bring cheap/proven/experienced CB and not to sell Musah or Jimenez so we could have depth for wingbacks. Given the situation we have to play 4-3-3 there is absolutely 0 chance for any other formation.
Useless deadwood are not “depth”. Now actual footballers get to play. I call it a huge win for the club and the fans.
My brain can’t process what they were thinking. Was there any cooperation between Tare and Allegri at all or was this purely work of that rat Furlani.
“Given the situation we have to play 4-3-3 there is absolutely 0 chance for any other formation.”
Let the FIFA-certified, scudetto-winning coach worry about the formation. I’d reckon he knows these things better than people commenting here. 🙂
You don’t understand my point. Are we gonna play Bartesaghi and Athekame if Sale and Estupinan get injured? Yeah well good luck to all FIFA-certified coaches with that kind of players 😀
yeah. then sell barte and dont buy athekame if youre not gonna play them at all. in fact let usbuy all the senior player and never had a youth team.
He doesn’t get the point, that is certain.
Did ChatGPT tell you to write that?
The point is that a real coach finds a solution whether it’s changing the formation or making the players adapt.
Or use the crappy ones. What’s the point of having and buying those if they never play?
I’m somewhat satisfied with the mercato, if only we got one big guy as a target man
Keep telling them… They need to relax😂
We should re integrate Bennacer and Adli at this point, they could be useful. Leao pulisic up front, backed up by gimenez/nkunku. The only transfer that makes no sense is Jimenez, why did we sell him again?
Mental issues. Constantly late from training sessions. Bad temper. Not being ready enough. And most of all: PROFIT!
Jiménez is the the profile Allegri is gonna use. Different system. So as tragic as it is still it make sense
In January, we should sell Injury Waiting-RLC Six Hitting-Fofana or Headless Chicken Musah and Gabbia or Tomori for a Leader Center Back and a Leader Striker….2 players sold, two player bought and then we will be properly equipped for 3-5-2 or 4-2-3-1 or even the famous Christmas Tree 4-3-2-1 or even a 4-3-3 but be really really need a strong ball holding striker and a leader in Center Back. And please Thiago Silva is probably not thr option. He is 40 now.
Actually i think 3-5-2 is a waste, as Nkunku – Leao – Puli – Gimenez have to fight for 2 slots. 3 of them start, 1 sub is ok
Curious to see how this mercato will serve us going forward…hope Rabiot will replace some of the goals that left with Tijji…the midfield look solid, hope our defense come to the party. Still not sure how Athekame will fit into this side or will Allegri rotate between a 3 man and 4 man defense. I’m excited at one level and curious at the same time. If nothing else I am just glad they got rid of some of the non AC level players.
Napoli and Roma have best mercato and i think they will fight for scudeto.
Juve and Inter still strong.
We and Fiorentina then come i hope at january we can buy new players, and will not too much behind 4th place.
Wov, it says super midfield in title and it seems the author is living in 2015. As the game is getting faster and more athletic as per Inters slow and old midfield getting smashed 5 – 0 in Champions League final. Milan has gone and bought 2 old and slow players for a manager who plays the most slowest and boring football. How has it come this with Milan fans wanting Allegri and Rabiot? No other teams in other leagues would touch them. I hope all you Milan fans who wanted them all the best. Atleast Musah gave 100% and wasn’t greedy for money like Allegri’s boy. He’s been played in so many positions without a set position so now watch him shine at Atlanta who now how to play players.
selling musah was a big mistake that will come to hurt us
No it won’t, Musah was trash, that was probably the best move of the mercato.
Fofana-Ricchi as DM, Modric-Jashari as creative, Rabiot-RLC as the progressive. I woudlve rather have someone like Fabbian or Cassadei as a second progressive midfielder, for the young/italian factor, but thats is a solid midfield there. Maybe for the next window.
Hope this midfield can stop the ball in transition because if they don’t THIS defense will leak the sam 40+ goals as they did last season and Odogu won’t be able to stop any of those. LOL!!!
You can deduct 10 goals from there as Theo is gone and Leao isn’t a winger anymore. Left flank won’t be leaking like it was last season.
