The midfield department will be the one that undergoes the most changes for AC Milan this summer, and Sky have taken stock of the situation.
A couple of the moves are already known about: the sale of Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester City meant the midfield needed another rebuild, with Luka Modric’s arrival on a free having been confirmed and with Samuele Ricci set to join from Torino.

However, there is still plenty of work to be done. As Sky report, there are three players that were in the squad last season who should remain: Youssouf Fofana, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Warren Bondo.
Then, there are four players that are expected to leave before the start of 2025-26. Yunus Musah is one (as Igli Tare also confirmed), while the returning loanees Yacine Adli, Ismael Bennacer and Tommaso Pobega can also go.
The targets, in addition to Modric and Ricci, are as follows: Ardon Jashari of Club Brugge, Granit Xhaka of Bayer Leverkusen and Javi Guerra of Valencia.
It feels like the mission will be to trim down the current squad with the four expected departures and then bring in another signing to arrive at six midfielders competing for three positions in a 4-3-3.
So either 1 out of Jashari, Javi Guerra or Xhaka will arrive. Personally I prefer Guerra. We don’t need any more central midfielders.
So there’s no need for Jashari or Xhaka.

Agree, please bring Jashari to Milanello at all cost… Xhaka is not long term solution… Guerra is similar with Ricci…

Think hes looked at as a rightback more then a midfielder and thats why. But he should leave too together with Emerson

Jashari, Xaka and Ricci are all no 6s so from that point of view we need Guerra more then Xhaka and Jashari for 4-3-3. But maybe Allegri want a double Pivot with 2 of Fofana/Ricci/Jashari/Bondo and Modric/R-L-C will play more like an attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1. Then Jashari makes sense.
Sort of like Slot lined up Liverpool this season to fix the defensive problems they had last year

Here’s an idea….stop chopping and changing the midfield all the time and maybe it would start to function. Each transfer window we get a new midfield, how you going to expect the engine room to work if we swap parts all the time ??
