Reports: How much Milan will pocket from Daniel Maldini’s €14m Atalanta move

Daniel Maldini is heading to Atalanta from Monza, and AC Milan are set to pocket some cash from the deal due to a clause inserted into his exit.

When news first emerged that Maldini was heading towards an exit on a free deal from Milan, there was some outrage at the fact. However, the Rossoneri inserted a clause into the deal which meant they would be somewhat protected in his future.

This has been reported to be around 50%, so there has been a key eye on the youngster’s progression so far.

At one point, there were even suggestions that the club were considering making a move to bring the attacking midfielder back to the club, but these suggestions were shut down despite other leading teams having an interest in the player.

Now, that interest has solidified, and a move away from Monza is set to happen after just six months. Atalanta, who have an interest for some time, are the club to match the Biancorossi’s demands, and the midfielder will now move to Bergamo.

According to reports, the deal is set to be around €14 million, which means that the Diavolo will earn €7m from the move. Considering Charles De Ketelaere has been tearing it up since joining La Dea if Maldini replicates that success, questions will be asked once again.

  1. Maldini, Brescianini and Pobega. All homegrown and would be able to contribute. No they wouldn’t be stars, but having them would help out the registrations so much. Management has no idea how to build a squad.

  2. A talented boy. He has everything he needs in Atalanta to become a top player. Here’s hoping he can be Lookman’s successor. I wish him all the best.

    1. Well he couldnt show much when all the playing time was given to Brahim and then Loftus. In the youth league he was contributing 15-16 goals per season. If they gave him the playing time to develop we would have prob seen that in the senior club too.

      1. Wasn’t his father that brought in Brahim to play in his sons position and then started the negotiations for Loftus Cheek during Milan’s UCL games vs. Chelsea?

        1. Yes of course, his father try to build a team with old player with good experience and young talented player, so the youngster can learn from their seniors. Meanwhile here is redbird and co. Just sell whoever they can to gain more money then buy cheap player or free to gain more sell. Just like a homeless try to sell junks

          1. “Well he couldnt show much when all the playing time was given to Brahim and then Loftus.”

Learn from Brahim and Loftus Cheek?

          2. What? You wanted Milan to sign KDB so that he could learn from him? LMAO
Milan’s budget for Maldini was always a few millions and some peanuts on the side to fill all the holes in the squad.

            So jog on, troll.

          3. @Milan Fan try reading the conversation before you just write nonsense.
Daniel wasn’t getting playing time because his father was signing players in his position.
Not signing players like KDB but Brahim and Loftus to play in front of Daniel makes it worse because they are not much better than him.
Comprehension is apparently not people strong suit.

        2. His father didn’t chose who plays and who’s not. That was on Pioli. Maldini would never try to force such a thing. He is not Ibrahimovic, who fired Abate cause he wasnt playing his son.

    2. I think it all depends on the system. Brescianini isn’t setting the world on fire, but in Gasperini’s system he’s a solid Serie A midfielder. I’d rather have 3-4 solid midfielders who score 5 goals and get 5 assists every season over 1 midfielder that gets 15 goals and 10 assists, if the others are doing nothing. That’s our situation, where Tijji is the only midfielder producing, while Bennacer, Fofana and the others are negligible offensively. The result is an Atalanta that has scored 48 goals in Serie A vs a Milan that has scored 32. I understand that there are a few more variables, but there you have it.

  3. You can’t keep all players.

Problem is after winning scudetto, Milan owner can’t continue with his idea. Because Serie A is strong league, and only withhogh objective, best possible players and not youngsters and opportunities Milan can reach top 4 each year.

That means maximum spending p3r year and deficit

    1. Genuine question… after how you were shipped out and with how they sacked your legend of a father… would you want to go back there?

Ironically, he’s been exactly the role that we’ve been missing in the team for a lot of this season, but of course we chose to let him go for free.

      1. I think he still loves Milan. When asked about going back to Milan few months ago he said you never know. So he didn’t deny Milan. But this move is prob better for his career.

  4. Are we back to pretending that Daniel Maldini is a good player again? His 3 goals and 1 assist in 20 matches for Monza. Who’s next Pobega? Anything for a click.

    1. You can see his minutes.he is hardly given minutes and starting position in the XI.
People complain he hasn’t scored, but when he scores you say it’s only 3goals but he hadn’t played good no of minutes to score like you want.

  5. For us good profit I think. Maybe he explode in Atalanta , but for now nothing special and we can’t wait another 2 – 3 years if he will be good enough. We need complete players and we still don’t have them. Atalanta is best place for him right now

  6. Once you move past the stats and actually watch Monza games you’d know he has huge potential. His assist should be much higher as well as his goals. Unfortunately his own name hurts any neutral as.sessment of him. However Atalanta scouts sees something in him so at least it’s a positive signal that he has something. His playing style reminds me a bit of CDK…and he turned out quite well for them

  7. Daniel gonna join Bellanova, Pasilic, Brescianini and CDK as Ex-Milan players to challenge for Scudetto this season.
    You love to see it.
Gifting Atalanta half an XI of talent.

Well done management! Genius moves! (¬_¬)

  8. Here’s a 1-11 (minus GK) of Milan former players all playing in the teams above them in the table!

    Kalulu Romagnoli Acerbi Darmian

    Bellanova Locatelli Pašalić Brescianini Maldini

    CDK

That team would beat the current Milan team.

Of course it would they all play for teams above Milan in the table.

    Idiots.

    1. And I left out the Turkish scum and Adli (because I was calling for him to be sold).

Also El Shaaraway and Saelemaekers but Roma are managed even worse than Milan.

And Pobega. Because Musah is so much better.

    1. Daniel is a rubbish player. He’s nowhere near top level quality, looks where Monza is, you think quality play got them sitting at the bottom of the table?

  9. Atalanta wants to make another monster out of a player.

Atalanta really should be a course discuss on how to generate and sustain potential in young players. 🤔
