AC Milan find themselves in a position where salvation is possible this season, and it is thanks to the Coppa Italia. However, it could have a domino effect.
Throughout this season, there have been moments of brilliance, though they have regularly been overshadowed by failures in the weeks that have followed. The Supercoppa Italiana, for example, a great high, mellowed by a poor performance on the weekend following.
It has been a constant really, and this has left Milan fans unable to full celebrate, out of fear of which Rossoneri side will follow. However, in recent weeks, the story has been different. After the win against Inter, the side have continued to push on, and on, and on.
Now, coming into this game, the Rossoneri are the third most inform team in the division, and Sergio Conceicao has found a rhythm for his team, which could result in his future changing, according to Luca Bianchin, a Gazzetta dello Sport journalist, who spoke to Milan News.
What reactions do you expect from the Milan management currently under the eye of the cyclone, regardless of how the final goes?
“I don’t expect any particular reactions, I’m struck by this countdown that’s on Conceiçao’s head that he started, pressing the button some time ago saying: ‘At the end of the season I’ll talk’. Now the sand on the hourglass is almost exhausted, it’s almost time for Conceiçao to speak.
“It is clear that there is a wait to understand what he will say, if they will be chilly statements, if he will force his hand to leave, if he will say: ‘I remain, but under certain conditions’, if he will say: ‘They don’t make me stay, but…’.
“I certainly expect some criticism about some objective difficulties he had during his half-season at Milan.”
Is it more likely that Milan will propose confirmation to Conceiçao or that Conceiçao will spontaneously leave the boat?
“It depends a lot on the result. Of course, if Milan loses the Italian Cup, we will definitely have the new coach and he could vent a little more. On the contrary, if Milan won the Italian Cup, the chances of confirmation would rise and he would take a few more days to say what he thinks.
“I don’t know if for him in the end he means after this game or, more likely, after the last day of the championship.”
In all these speeches there is no figure who should guide these discussions, namely the sports director
“It seems that there is the idea of not taking a sports director, even if I would keep all the possibilities open.”
Are there no more profiles available?
“I’m there, if you want. The problem is that not having chosen them now, it is unlikely that they will be chosen in June.
“As far as the directors under contract are concerned, we have Sartori here who has let the message pass that he will remain in Bologna. There is Tony D’Amico but Atalanta said they will keep him. Who knows if the speech will not reopen but at this moment we stick to Percassi’s statements.”

Keep him for another season, he made us win 2 trophies and tried clearing Fonseca’s mess in the leauge. I think he can make sensible sales and purchases as well as give a fighting spirit for the scudetto and bring the best out of the team especially with Leao.
Yeah, but I think the coach doesn’t want to continue working with the current management as much as I want him to stay
There are so many fans that hate him, even though the guy had a mess to work with because upper management is a bunch of headless chickens. I think he’s worth keeping if he wants to stay. This is, of course, assuming we manage to win the final. (We’d be fools not to keep him if the miracle of us entering the Champions League also happens)
I think we’re inevitably heading in that direction: Sergio stays and the current imbecile management stays w/o a SD.
Stop with this nonsense about bringing Conceicao back. Coppa Italia or not.
All the people now supporting him because he’s gotten incredibly lucky in some results where the team has played terribly, please tell me if you think the team has actually played well under Conceicao? And when?
He’s coached probably close to thirty games now, can you tell me more than 2 games where the team actually played well the entire match? Where we didn’t get completely outplayed in the first half and had to mount some desperate comeback? Even in our wins we don’t play well. He gets his tactics wrong to start every match and the only way the team can create anything is when they go all-out attack after they fall behind. We have been very lucky to have gotten the wins we have but this is not a sustainable way to play.
