‘I turned down Milan for Bolton’ – Dzemaili recalls ‘stupid’ Premier League decision

Blerim Dzemaili is a name known to Serie A fans, given he spent almost 10 years representing different clubs. However, he never represented AC Milan, which haunts him.

The lure of the Premier League is substantial, and for many, it is the pinnacle of football, at least in a club sense. Nevertheless, he had the chance to play for Milan in the late 2000s, the club of his childhood, but it never happened due to a desire to play in England.

Indeed, he chose to move to Bolton instead, where he never appeared across a two-year spell. Talk about making a bad choice…

Dzemaili’s regret

Speaking to RSI, a Swiss media outlet, he revealed what happened and how the move still haunts him, as Calciomercato.com relays.

“I could have gone to Milan in 2007, but I preferred Bolton. When I think about it, I say to myself: ‘ How stupid of me! ‘. In German-speaking Switzerland, you grow up watching the Premier League and the Bundesliga: that’s why I chose to go to England. What a mistake…”

Hindsight is obviously a wonderful thing, but for Dzemaili, it is probably a nightmare tool. Indeed, who knows what would’ve happened if he chose to make the move to Milano.
