Zlatan Ibrahimovic has responded to accusations he directed a racial slur at Romelu Lukaku via a post on his Twitter account.
There was certainly plenty of controversy during last night’s Coppa Italia quarter-final as Ibra and Lukaku clashed just before half time, with the pair exchanging plenty of insults. The Swede made a provocative comment but a clever one related to Lukaku’s past, and never xenophobic.
Milan have always been at the forefront of the anti-racism issue, especially with its CEO Ivan Gazidis, while Ibrahimovic himself has repeatedly spoken with great consideration and intelligence on the issue.
Now, he has issued a response to the unfounded allegations that he said something racist during the war of words by making a statement on his Twitter account.
“In ZLATAN’s world there is no place for RACISM. We are all the same race – we are all equal !! We are all PLAYERS some better then others.”
