Ibrahimovic called up for international duty as Sweden coach confirms: “He will be with us”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been called up by Sweden for their upcoming games in the international break, it has been confirmed.

It is news that will likely divide the Milan fan base as Ibrahimovic has not been available for Milan since sustaining an Achilles problem after the 2-0 win over Lazio at San Siro earlier in the month, and he has been left out of the squad for tonight’s game against Atletico Madrid too.

The coach of Sweden – Janne Andersson – has named his squad ahead of their fixtures against Greece and Kosovo in their World Cup qualifying group. Ibrahimovic is there, despite the fact he has not been available to Milan nor is he deemed fit enough to be picked yet.

During the press conference, the coach explained his decision to select the 39-year-old, with his comments relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“I decided to select him because I believe and hope he can be involved and contribute to the cause. He comes from a period of back injury, but he is progressing continuously. But the starting point is that he will be with us when we meet next week,” he said.
