CorSera: Ibrahimovic has a double objective vs. Spezia as Pioli relies on attack amid crisis

By Oliver Fisher -

The draw between Atalanta and Inter last night has given AC Milan the opportunity to take back top spot tonight, even if the Nerazzurri have played one game less due to the postponed Bologna game.

This morning’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) looks ahead to this evening’s game against Spezia which Milan will again face in crisis because Kjaer and Tomori are injured while Romagnoli still has Covid-19, plus the fact Bennacer and Kessie are at AFCON and Tonali is suspended.

This means the centre-back pairing will be Gabbia and Kalulu again while Krunic and Bakayoko are basically the only choices for the double pivot, so Stefano Pioli will once again rely on Zlatan Ibrahimovic to drag Milan to the top of the standings.

The Swede will take the field against Spezia with a double objective: he wants to score at San Siro after more than four months since he last did (last time on 12 September against Lazio), and if he did score then Spezia would become the 81st team he has scored against in his career, thus overtaking Cristiano Ronaldo and becoming the first player from 2000 onwards to achieve it.
