The process of hiring a new sporting director is not proceeding quickly for AC Milan because of internal disagreements about who it should be.
This morning’s edition of La Repubblica (via MilanNews) highlights that there are different visions within the club regarding how to move forward. This is something that we have already spoken at length about in a recent feature.
On the one hand there is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who last week met the candidates in London alongside the owner Gerry Cardinale and wants Igli Tare. On the other hand, the CEO Giorgio Furlani – who two days ago flew to New York to meet the owner – is pushing to appoint Fabio Paratici.
Andrea Berta is also still in the running, who was the first name on Milan’s list, but is now in advanced negotiations with Arsenal who have been interested in him for some time.
The former Atletico Madrid sporting director has not yet signed with the Gunners and therefore could also return to the running. At the moment the favourite seems to be Tare.
Milan currently sit in ninth place in the league and were dumped out of the Champions League by Feyenoord over two legs. It is safe to say that nobody within the hierarchy deems this to be a satisfactory return, and that is why major alterations are expected.
Too many cooks spoiling an already spoiled broth.
I’m fine with basically anyone as long as the Sporting Director
a) is competent and not a similar clown as the current management members and
b) will have enough power to make decisions.
This sh1tstorm has to end here and now. Now more bankers or has-been-scouts calling the shots. Or Zlatan.
That’s the issue though – how much autonomy would the SD actually get at Milan? Zlatan, Furlani would actually stay of his way? And if they hire someone that the managers can’t all agree on will there be sabotage?
Exactly. They need to start working for the club too. Club’s interest first – not their own.
They are not only incompetent but selfish pr*cks who don’t care about the good of this club too. No wonder our team is a mess when management are in constant fight and trying to overtake one another.
How about we fire them all and get a true football management staff
Bring back the goat Maldini!
Yes: I agree; bring back the great Maldini. He was doing a very good job before the owner foolishly sacked him. Our troubles on the pitch since then can be traced back to that terrible own goal.
The entire management team needs to be replaced. It would be best if Cardinale sold the team.
Everyone out, basta
Two clowns ….out!!!
Completely agree with all your points! This management and ownership has brought down this organization and ruined everything. There is such a rich history to this club. They have no idea what they are doing nor do they understand the meaning of this AC Milan club. Get them out!!
Bring in an Italian sporting director who has the experience and an Italian coach with experience but who has a plan and a system, not just any coach who will throw any 11 foreign players on the pitch. This is truly ridiculous not only to watch and follow but to tolerate this! Then we need to clear house—RLC, Musah, Bondo are few to name! These are not players to build around! Go get back Tonali who should have never been sold and is a symbol of this squad, and maybe even go all in to get Ricci from Torino.
Play a 4-3-3 like most normal teams do! And now at least with Gabbia, Tonali, Ricci…there will be some Italian blood finally!
Anyone agree??!!
100 percent
For once, I agree with Furlani lol
Yes, I agree. A solid Italian foundation augmented by a few truly talented foreigners. That’s been ACM’s winning formula since the early 1960’s, especially during the Berlusconi era.
Inter, Juventus, and other teams in Serie A all have a majority, or at least a core, of Italian players in their lineups. Why is ACM the only one that doesn’t? Why doesn’t our owner see the blindingly obvious? Why are he and his underlings hell-bent on destroying one of Italy’s great cultural institutions?
ACM has a proud and illustrious history. During the Berlusconi era, the club captured the imagination of fans around the world with its exploits on the pitch. Power, grit, style, intelligence, and supreme success were the hallmarks of his best teams.
Who will ever forget ACM’s glorious triumph against Cruyff’s Barcelona in the 1994 Champions League final? Who will ever forget the SF against Man Utd in the Champions League in 2007, especially the “perfect performance” in the 2nd leg at the San Siro.
That’s the ACM we love; not the miserable imitation that we have under the current owner who’s self-proclaimed goal appears to be to convert the club into an entertainment company, with football just one of its many activities
Look how successful Real Madrid are both on and off the pitch: are they an entertainment company?
UNESCO should add ACM to its World Heritage List as a matter of urgency to stop Cardinale from doing any further damage to our club!
They both want their people inside mgt..gerry should act not just listen to both them..if he hired paratici, furlani will got more power, more people thinking bout money without thinking bout club..if hired tare, ibra will got more power, more alliance in the mgt so he can buy more useless players without success..gerry should hired maldini, so with him, he will got someone who thinks more about club, & can bring more success & more money..
Wow Milan might have escaped tonight that does means we are doing better and I wonder what type of tactics the Coach is playing, playing a players in different positions in almost all match does not speak well or show the coach tactical abilities and his it a must for him to player Musah or what the future look dark I drought Milan champion league slot with this coach
The dirty unshaven dwarf apparently has won this time. He is incompetent, ignorant and stupid and knows nothing about italian soccer. He has already fukced milan for some time now.
Bet ibra will resign after this humiliation by that cardinal fool.
Only Maldini can save the team. Bring him back
