Ibrahimovic: “Gattuso wasn’t Messi, but he gave you monstrous energy”

In a long interview with Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews.it), Zlatan Ibrahimovic got asked about his strongest teammates throughout his career. Without dwelling into technical qualities, the Swede named two important players.

“I don’t speak about technical value. I prefer to base my answer on what they represented for my way of playing.

“I’d have to say Vieira and Gattuso, without a doubt. Rino never gave up. He wasn’t Messi, but he gave you a monstrous energy kick,” he stated.

In his first season with the Rossoneri, he won the Scudetto. At the time, he was a regular starter along with Gattuso, and together they most likely made sure that the team was fired up ahead of every game.

Ibrahimovic’s contract with LA Galaxy will expire at the end of December and there have been talks about a return to Italy, as several teams are interested in his services.

However, a return to Milan seems very unlikely given the club’s project. The owners, Elliott Management, have decided to focus on young players and the striker doesn’t exactly fit the profile.
