GdS: Milan clinging to leader Ibrahimovic vs. Liverpool – the Swede has two milestones in sight

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will once again look to their leader Zlatan Ibrahimovic tonight as he hopes to drag the team into the Champions League knockout stages.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports that Ibrahimovic should get his first start in the Champions League group stages against Liverpool tonight which is good news for Stefano Pioli, as Milan need goals and leadership on the pitch.

Ibra’s last goal in the competition dates back to 6 April 2016 and if he were to score tonight, Zlatan would hit a round figure of 50 goals in the competition. Not only that but he would become, at 40 years of age, the oldest scorer in the elite European club competition.

The Rossoneri are clinging to their champion as they hope for him to provide more moments of inspiration and brilliance against an opponent he knows well from his time at Manchester United.
