MN: No scans scheduled for Ibrahimovic – he will be evaluated in view of the derby

By Oliver Fisher -

Some good news has filtered regarding the injury sustained by Zlatan Ibrahimovic that forced him to come off during the 0-0 draw with Juventus last night.

There was some worry when Olivier Giroud took his jacket off and lined up to come on as Ibrahimovic was in possession, but the ball was then kicked out and it became clear that the Ibra had suffered an injury, with instant panic that it was an Achilles problem that could result in a long-term absence.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, there are no MRI scans planned for Zlatan Ibrahimovic today, and instead the Swedish striker will be evaluated upon the resumption of training at Milanello and during the days that lead up to the derby against Inter.

The 40-year-old did indeed come off due to a pain in the Achilles tendon of his right leg – blaming the hard pitch as Stefano Pioli revealed after the game – but it was not acute, meaning there was no swelling of the tendon to suggest tendonitis.

  1. I don’t believe in God but I do believe Ibra is as close to God as one can get. That is how much I love the guy.

This is why it pains me to say this, but lately I keep hoping that every next injury is career ending. I know, I know… it is blasphemy. But until we realize that he is not getting old, he already is and that he is but a shadow of what he was even a year ago, we will keep lying to ourselves and keep relying on him to do things he just can’t do on any regular basis anymore.

It is a ha hard pill, it will leave a shitty taste in our mouth but it is necessary. Because as long as he is able to limp on the pitch, we will not make any serious investment in a proper, young, energetic and hungry striker.

I will be eternally grateful to Ibra for bringing us back from the abyss, but it is time to let him move on with the rest of his life and us to find a worthy replacement.

I apologize to everyone offended by this, and I know there will be many, and I promise I accept your apology when in a month or two or a year you realize i was right all along.

  2. agree. but. he gives me feeling he still can do. just the team and its adaptation isnt right. Maldini is right when he says players dont talk to eachother. Like messias doesnt even know anything. its ibra and leao running the show. we need a third guy. and i find that in rebic. for the derby the three should be there in our 4 attack. then i can say that we might beat inter. pioli should now understand. sal and messias are give wayyy too many chances. like brahim. but we cant replace him. so keep him rebic can cover him.

    1. Ibra running the show? Failed show u mean, poor milan and pioli for got stuck with this egomaniac. Dont talk scudetto if we still rely on 40yo as main striker who cant call it quit, acting like he is the best for his follower but jeopardize whole team

  4. Juve spend 85m on Vlahovic and we spend 5m on an 18 ur old Lavetic lol….and this signing essentially negates any loan move for Bially, Tanganga, etc…as Lavetic takes up our last non EU-spot. Let’s be honest – Elliot obviously have no intention of trying to win the scudetto – simply happy to qualify for CL – which is fine I guess. But honestly without a reliable (healthy, young) proven striker – I am not sure we will hold on to 4th place when it all said and done. Hope I’m wrong but with Juve signing Vlahovic now – it’s will be very difficult to hold on to a top 4 even though we sit 2nd place now…sign Zakaria for 7m – replaces Kessie. Sign Faivre for 15m…there are decent cost options we can do that don’t break the bank but it seems Elliot just don’t care. Sad and disappointed to say the least. I pray things change in the summer
