Zlatan Ibrahimovic is no longer a footballer, after retiring at the end of this past season, and the Swede is no pursuing other ventures. Interviewed by reporters recently, he shared his thoughts on his future.
Ibrahimovic announced his retirement after the game between Milan and Hellas Verona at San Siro. The decision came as a shock to many but given the 41-year-old’s injury struggles, it wasn’t unexpected either.
The Swede has been mentioned as one of the men that could get a role within the ‘new Milan’, acting as a team leader of sorts after the departure of Paolo Maldini. Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via SempreMilan), he said the following.
“Right now I feel very calm, which surprises me because I thought I would have been much more stressed. Maldini? I have a good relationship with him, we worked together, we won. For everything else, I don’t know what happened. I’m sorry for Paolo, because he is a legend of Milan.
“If Tonali is ready for the Premier League? Yes. I made him understand the right mentality, he has grown a lot and not only will he make it, but he will make it well. My Rossoneri comeback? Milan has remained in my heart. Now I’ll take some time, let’s see what happens. It’s only been three weeks, maybe I’ll go back to playing, you never know. Maybe in a month, I’ll be on the pre-season retreat at Milanello…”
It seems unlikely that Ibrahimovic will accept a role at Milan, not only because he has many other companies to focus on now but also because the whole climate at the club has changed. Nothing is impossible, though.
Well said one of my favorite players zlatan
