With the coronavirus pandemic currently sweeping through Europe, AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has promoted a cause to help relief efforts.
Italy and in particular northern regions such as Lombardy continue to struggle to get the outbreak under control, which led to the official announcement on Monday that Serie A will be suspended until April 3 at least.
As per the BBC, Italy’s death toll is now over 1,000 with a total number 15,113 infections. Civil protection officials say 1,258 have recovered, although the number of cases has gone up by 2,651 since Wednesday.
At this moment football is an afterthought. The Rossoneri are not training at present with Milanello on lockdown until at least the beginning of next week, and all games are suspended until April 3 at the moment.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is doing his bit regardless, and he took to social media to promote a cause from MindTheGum, in which for every pack sold they will donate an FFP2 face mask to Humanitas, who are involved in tackling the crisis.
“Because as we know, some superheroes do wear a mask,” the Swede stated.
