CM: Ibrahimovic remains central to Cardinale, RedBird and Milan despite suggestions otherwise

It had seemed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s role at AC Milan could change this summer. However, it appears that won’t be the case.

Over the past few months, there has been plenty said about Ibrahimovic and unfortunately, very little of it has been positive. Indeed, the Swede has divided fans and the division is an extreme one, to the point where his status as a player is being forgotten.

Maybe forgotten is the wrong word, but its importance is being minimised due to the current role he is playing with Milan.

Recently, it has been suggested that he could stay in America as a ‘commercially-driven’ member of the club, focusing on raising the Rossoneri’s brand in the United States. However, that may not be the case.

Ibrahimovic remains central

As Calciomercato.com wrote this morning, he remains central to RedBird and Gerry Cardinale, and in turn, the Diavolo. Indeed, he is difficult to place within the structure. Nevertheless, he has the trust of the owner and that is not disappearing.

There’s no rift; there has never been, even during the most difficult moments. Instead, the pair are stronger than ever and their drive to work together has never been greater.

  1. “Maybe forgotten is the wrong word, but its importance is being minimised due to the current role he is playing with Milan.”

    Stained, tained, corrupted,
    smudged, blackened, ruined.

  2. Luca Bianchin, a journalist for La Gazzetta dello Sport, spoke to MilanVibes about Van Dijk
    joining AC Milan:

“I’d summarize the situation in two points. The first is that Ibrahimovic has always considered the Dutch defender ideal for strengthening AC Milan’s defense. The second is that the dossier has actually arrived on Cardinale’s desk, and we’ll have to figure it out. This doesn’t mean Van Dijk will join the Rossoneri, but it’s an idea Ibra has reiterated several times. It certainly is and has been a thought. There are various issues to address, from his contract to his salary and more. At the moment, there have been no contacts with his entourage or Liverpool themselves.”

Is there a shift in ideas regarding transfer market strategies?

“We know there are different evaluations on all fronts. AC Milan has several options in mind at this stage, and all of them are valid or not for one reason or another. We’ll have to wait a few more days for concrete news.”

  3. I used to work at a place where there was this lady who was a pretend manager for a pretend department. She basically did nothing but carried all the office gossip to the higher ups, who does what and all the drama. I think that’s Ibra’s role lol 😅
