Ibrahimovic reveals why No.21 was chosen and discusses aspirations for the season

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has conducted his first interview as a new AC Milan player with Milan TV after his return to the club was confirmed.

Ibrahimovic arrived in Milano on Thursday to complete the formalities of his move to the Rossoneri, undergoing a medical at La Madonnina clinic earlier in the day before enduring more fitness tests and eventually signing his contract at Casa Milan.

He then travelled to Milanello to meet Stefano Pioli who he spoke to for around 45 minutes, as per MilanNews.it, and although he was too late to join training with his new team-mates he underwent a voluntary unscheduled individual training session.

Interviewed exclusively by Milan TV, Ibrahimovic spoke about his return to the club he has repeatedly referred to as his home.

Why the number 21?

“Because it’s the number my oldest son chose, I showed him all the numbers available and he chose 21,” he said (via MilanNews).

“The goal is to help the club, the team and improve the situation. Individually I want to do the best I can.”

Who sent the first text message after signing?

“Everyone was happy, they sent me many messages.”

The memory that comes to mind when mentioning Milan?

“So many good memories, only positive things. Great club, great team and great San Siro.”

How much Paolo Maldini and Zvonomir Boban affect things?

“In the last 2-3 weeks I have spoken more to them than to my wife, but everything went well because I am here.”

Has Zlatan Ibrahimovic ever been afraid?

“No.”

What does the Zlatanometer say? Do you approve the return to AC Milan?

“It says 200.”
