Il Mattino: Ibrahimovic pushing to try stop Allegri joining Napoli – the reasons

While there is no news coming out regarding AC Milan’s management, there is radio silence regarding Massimiliano Allegri’s fate too.

Allegri dismissed along with the rest of the previous management team after failing to get a Champions League place, and he quickly reached an agreement to take over from Antonio Conte at Napoli. However, before he does that, he must officially terminate his deal with Milan.

In recent days, there has been talk of an imminent separation, with the parties seemingly heading toward reaching an agreement on the amount of severance pay to complete the termination of the contract.

However, in the last few hours developments have come out which are suggesting that the situation is far from resolved, as reported earlier today by Il Mattino (via MilanVibes).

Among the rumours that continue to circulate are those regarding the difficult relationship that Allegri had with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which became even more strained after the mass dismissal that occurred at the end of the season.

In recent months, several differences of opinion emerged between the former Swedish striker and the coach, both on and off the pitch. These tensions have further complicated their co-existence within the Rossoneri project, and thus their current separation.

There are also rumours that Ibrahimovic is even ready to push to keep Allegri for the final year of his deal and thus prevent him from going to Napoli. That would almost certainly anger Allegri, Aurelio De Laurentiis and Napoli, while also costing Milan around €9m gross.

  1. Even if we had unlimited budget, this is just mean, only wanting to hurt someone else.. That cannot happen, simply cannot, or Milan would have huge shameful controversy on top of everything else

  2. I do agree with not giving Allegri the lucrative golden parachute he wants. Rumors circulating by the Italian bros don’t carry a lot of weight with me. Good posting material, but not much else.

  3. It’s just plain stupid. Why would you want to waste the money on someone you fired and also prevent him from going to Napoli and destroying that team? Ibrahimovic has an IQ of 70.

    1. Which is more stupid… Ibra keeping Allegri or Allegri collecting free 5m and still going to Napoli?.. if Allegri wants to go to Napoli, he is free to go but he should not be demanding that Milan pay him 5m severance pay… Instead of giving him free 5m, Milan should hold him down.. if Allegri loves his Napoli move, he should leave honourably… Gattuso didn’t collect severance pay, and he is still alive… The idiot Allegri ruined Milan’s season and still has d guts to be asking for severance pay… He didn’t meet d target set for him, Copa Italia, Supa Copa, he crashed out at d first hurdle.. Ibra is right on dis

  4. If it’s true- best news I’ve heard today. He screws our team over, planning to join Napoli even before the season ends and cannot beat Cagliari at SAN Siro on the final day of the season, which is bare minimum for UCL – and you want to run to Napoli, still demanding to be paid 2m + 3m. No way sir.

    1. Cardinale: “if allegri want compensation 5 million. Allegri can root in his home for next season.”

  5. do people here think journos have some sort of listening device in Ibra’s suit so they know what he wants to do 100% of the time?

    1. Sure. Remember when the bad Gazzetta dello sport was against Milan? Even SempreMilan wrote an article about it. The news was that Boniface has knee issues. And?

    2. But it was a made up story to prevent Milan going back to the top. I’ve read the most stupid explanations on the planet. In the end everyone that wrote those ended up being proven complete mo*ons, with under 80IQ.

  7. Well, maybe we should make a go fund me page to pay Allegri’s salary to make him sit out a year if he wants 5ml to leave.

    1. Whoever gave Ibrahimovic powers made a mistake. The guy is very arrogant and he will destroy Milan. He thinks that he is better than everyone. Now Leao wants to leave because of him. Who else must be mistreated by him.

So he would rather have Milan lose that amount just to make a point? Allegri and his stuff lose nothing because they can go on paid holidays for a year at Milan’s expense.

That money can better be invested in the team.
