Ibrahimovic offers update on Pioli’s future: “We are happy with him”

Ahead of the upcoming summer, there are several decisions for AC Milan to finalise. The most prominent one is regarding the future of Stefano Pioli, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic has offered an update about his future.

In recent months, the conversation about Pioli and his future has revolved around the same cycle regarding whether he stays or leaves Milan at the end of the current season. The decision seems to murk further as the season continues, with reports suggesting that European success could be a deciding factor.

Since Ibrahimovic arrived at the club, the situation changed somewhat, with reports suggesting that the Swede had been involved in discussions with other managers about potentially taking over the role after Pioli’s departure.

As it stands now, though, the situation is stalemate. There are no pressing reasons to make a decision shortly. As a result, the club will likely postpone a decision until the end of the season – taking into account the Rossoneri’s performance in Europe.

Ibrahimovic spoke to Sky Sports in Jeddah, where he is to watch this weekend’s Formula 1, alongside Gerry Cardinale (however, there could be other motivations for their trip) and offered his thoughts on the current landscape of Pioli’s situation. His comments have been relayed by MilanNews.

On the new role…

“I’m fine. I’m growing up, learning and working. One day at a time, and I always step forward, and it always gets better. But well, I like it, I like this responsibility, and I want to give as much as possible to Milan.”

And now he is in Saudi Arabia…

“It’s good to be here, first time in Arabia. Then I’m a big fan of F1 and Ferrari, it’s no secret. I want to enjoy this moment in Arabia and enjoy F1. I hope Ferrari wins. Then we work with Milan.”
