Il Cittadino: Milan’s San Donato plan to take big step as 18-month process begins

By Oliver Fisher -

While the climate surrounding AC Milan remains red hot after last night’s defeat against Roma in the UEFA Europa League quarter-final second leg, some positive news has arrived.

One of the main topics linked to Milan over the last few weeks is undoubtedly that relating to the new stadium and today a first important step should be taken, according to Il Cittadino (via PianetaMilan).

As has been well documented, the Rossoneri intend to build the new facility for the future in the region of San Donato, more specifically in the San Francesco area.

Despite the possibility of renovating San Siro, proposed by the mayor Beppe Sala and by the company Webuild, the Rossoneri seem to be oriented towards the construction of a new home in the south east of the city.

The paper reports that the mayor of San Donato, Francesco Squeri, should take the first big step today. He will send the request to join the Program Agreement to the Lombardy Region, the Metropolitan City, RFI and SportLifeCity.

This document should be submitted today as stated, accompanied by a letter signed by the Mayor, and it will consist of about a hundred pages. The process should be completed within 18 months, providing there are no obstacles.
