Il Romanista: Milan and Roma discussing loan for striker with swap idea declined

By Oliver Fisher -

One of the finishing touches that Milan are looking for in the closing part of the summer transfer window is the signing of another centre-forward, and Tammy Abraham remains a target.

Milan signed Alvaro Morata to replace Olivier Giroud and it is likely that he will hold the starting spot, but Paulo Fonseca is looking for another option despite the fact that Luka Jovic’s contract was recently renewed.

According to Il Romanista, Abraham seems to be ‘increasingly close to leaving Roma’ in this current window and Milan would like to sign him, but under certain conditions. Fonseca does not want to lose Alexis Saelemaekers or Noah Okafor as a counterpart in the operation, which limits the options.

Roma are pushing for a loan with obligation to buy formula, while Milan would like the obligation to be conditional on the achievement of certain objectives. We will see if the negotiations for Abraham will be unblocked in the last month, but either way the Englishman seems destined to leave.

The Giallorossi signed Artem Dovbyk from Girona to be their starting striker for the future and this further pushes Abraham towards the exit door. At Milan he would reunited with Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, two players he knows well with the former in particular being a close friend.

  1. Idk what the dude is thinking honestly. Being a sub at Milan or being a sub at Roma. What’s the difference? Better city to live in I guess, some friends from the past. But he’d definitely have more chances for gametime at roma than at Milan

    1. Playing champions league? Playing behind a striker in his 30s with a higher likelihood of injury? Change of scenery? There could be a hundred personal reasons why anyone might want to go somewhere new in their career.

      1. More likely Abraham will end up injured not Morata.
There’s also a hundred personal reasons not to go anywhere. So back to square one…

      1. You think Milan will give him a pay raise? Jesus…
Also, I bet my left nut Morata will play the CL games. Abe, if he comes, will get crums in CL.

          1. I’m negative about this transfer because it’s unneeded..

You go buy another car and then tell your wife not to be negative about it, she should wish you well and move on…

    2. If he’s trying to break into England NT under a new coach then playing second fiddle at Milan is the wrong move.

I’m not excited about this transfer possibility. But hey, if Fonseca is (truly) asking for him, then I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

    1. You think every player is 20-25M. Konate doesn’t match to what Milan is looking for in a ST. Maybe if he magical grows 10cm and puts on 3-5kg of muscle.

  2. As far as I’m concerned, given the choice, we should be trying to offload Tomori and RLC not reunite them with their similarly average best friend Abraham. What are they trying to do build an English circle jerk?

    1. Common that’s not fair Tomori has done well for the team and should be given some credit. Tammy Abraham is a fine player with good fighting spirit and strength which will be a plus to the team

  3. If you’re demanding for such an expensive backup ,let appear to be more guarantees for success. When there comes the time for Mr Cardinale to assess you, this Abraham move may reflect and reflect heavily.
