Since returning to AC Milan, Massimo Oddo has changed the narrative of the Futuro’s season, and he is potentially having long-term effects already.
There have been a number of faults this season with the Milan Futuro, but the biggest arguably has been the management of the project. This can be viewed in two ways, both in a personnel way and in a coaching way, so let’s take a look.
Oddo has won three games, drawn two and lost three, picking up 11 points in eight games, since joining the Futuro. Daniele Bonera, on the other hand, picked up 22 points in 28 games, which is an abysmal record.
Then, there is the other big issue, which has been the management of certain players, for which Bonera voiced his frustrations. For example, stating that he never had continuity, due to senior call-ups.
Calciomercato.com write today that there may have been truth in Bonera’s frustrations, and the report even questions whether Francesco Camarda has been mismanaged this season, as a result of recent performances.
Since Oddo has arrived, the starlet’s situation has become ‘much easier’, and whilst he still had moments in the win against Ternana, he provided a perfect assist, which won the game. Now, he finds the right path with the Futuro, a continuity in his minutes and position, and this is the ‘absolute impact’ of Oddo, who is changing the future.
Then, for the wider Futuro picture, the coach is picking things up too, he has already collected 11 points this season, and he will hope to keep his team out of Serie D. However, he stated today that they are on the right path, showing he is improving the Futuro as a team, and again in turn, the future.
All we had to do is keep Abate and commit to starting Camarda in Serie C for this season because Serie A is clearly a step to high at the moment. Instead the club hired a novice coach and yo-yoed Camarda throughout the first half of the season. Once again we have to dig out of our own hole. Now Oddo is on the right track with Camarda seeing regular Serie C minutes. Interestingly, this as Jovic has seen his minutes increase with the 1st team. It’s not a coincidence. Jovic should have been the 3res striker all along, and Camarda should have been in Serie C all along.
I think this season was also crucial for Camarda… he needs to see the actual difference between current him and the big stage…
with papers and all you might lose yourself in your ego… he had hopefully a humbling experience and will use it to sharpen his skills and finishing, no doubt the kid will become a beast!
The wrong has been corrected already, stop living in the past. No management is above mistake.
Bonera was chosen just because he was supposed to give Ibras son minutes in the futuro. For this Ibra should be sent away.
Should have gone with Oddo sooner. Then maybe we would be around 11-12th place, and the season would have been saved. Maybe there is a chance we could avoid the playoff but I haven’t looked at the table
I think they are currently 4th from last position, which is out of playof, isn’t it?
Unfortunately it isn;t, The last 2 games determine everything; if they end up 16th with a 9 point gap between the team they are playing (the 19th position) they are automatically safe. If they manage to get to 15th position, which is less likely when you look at the fixture, they are also safe.
Basically they need to win their next 2 games, and either two teams on top of them lose their games, or the team on top of them loses both games and 19th position loses both games.
The fates will decide their luck.
It’s still basically impossible to win our way to automatic safety on account of goal difference.
But it’s the right time to be winning 3 in a row. Momentum is even more important than having the better squad in these playouts.
Really makes you wonder what things could have been if they’d taken the coaching role seriously and not appointed a guy for his first gig.
