AC Milan have switched rather quickly from Antonio Silva to Goncalo Inacio as their main centre-back target, reports claim.
Until a few hours ago, the trail leading to Antonio Silva seemed decidedly hotter. Then Milan hit a wall erected by Benfica, one they weren’t expecting to find. New head coach Marco Silva intends to focus on him, and the club want to renew his deal expiring in 2027.

Milan have a central defender as their top priority after getting the striker they wanted. Gerry Cardinale’s goal is to fill the most important positions as quickly as possible, in order to guarantee Ruben Amorim a secure base. So, another Lisbon-based target has emerged.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claim ‘the hottest name right now’ is Gonçalo Inacio, the 24-year-old Sporting CP centre-back. He’s the other name highly sought after by Amorim, although in this case the price tag is rising since his contract expires in 2030 and he’s a regular starter in Portugal.
However, Milan’s corporate philosophy has changed this year compared to previous seasons, as the record-breaking purchase of Ramos clearly demonstrates. This doesn’t mean spending at will, but being open to a substantial and targeted investment in a single player.
Inacio is popular not only because he can play in a three-man or four-man defence, but also because he’s adept at building from the back and is left-footed. Amorim knows him well as they won four trophies together (including two league titles) in the Portuguese capital.
The player is also managed by the same agency as the coach, a factor that could be helpful. The price? It’s around €40m. However, the price for Tiago Gabriel is significantly lower. The 21-year-old at Lecce has been offered to the Rossoneri management, who will evaluate.
Meanwhile, Nicolo Schira reports the following: “Milan have opened talks with Sporting CP to explore the conditions of Gonçalo Inacio deal. The centre-back is ready to leave Sporting and has given his availability to Milan, who are now ready to make an attempt to satisfy Amorim’s request.”
Watching Kessie at the world cup its very obvious that defensively he isn’t the same player anymore. He regularly loses his man. Offensively you still can’t get the ball away from him
This team might as well register for the Portuguese league next year, or mabye cardinale should try and buy sporting, so they wouldn’t have to spend as much to bring their whole team over
They haven’t brought any Sporting players or players from the Portuguese league.
Thats just the lazy media connecting every Sporting player to Milan just because Amorim used to coach there before. Same with ManUtd players, Ugarte, Dialo, Lisandro Martinez.
They did the same thing with Allegri and many Juventus player.
They did the same with Fonseca and many Lille players.
But the same agency for amorim and ignacio, what does mean ? The problem is that our Milan never aim on young and lower prices and agressive players, but to buy euro 80 k ramoa who doesnt play for 2 years in psg, I dont know what means. And never they can sell players like the other smaller team. Remember paqueta, the price tjat was sold by monaco to west ham. So its a leak of strategy. This year it will be another experiment like 2 other portuguese or like alegri and ibra 2 heads in 1 body.

Is this a bad thing? Italian players suck right now, but Portugal consistently produces qualuty players. Milan won a scudetto with half a french team, so I see no issue going Portuguese now
My concern here is that we’re lacking leadership in that defensive line. Mike and Modric added some last year but we really need some experience. I know Tomori has experience and is a good player, but he’s not the sort of leader and organiser we had with Kjaer.
Inacio deal will be difficult bc Sporting doesn’t want to lose their first team CB.
Personally I Would Rather Milan Get Ousmane Diomande he’s partner
Sell Tomori, Pavlovic and De Winter.
Bring Inacio, Scalvini and Comuzzo

Inacio, Goncalo Ramos are a good start, also going for Liberalli which the entire league and national team are focusing on right now.
I would then focus on Zalewski, either of Lucumi/Gila, quality replacement for Leao: Brahim Diaz or Trincao.
Sell: RLC, Tomori, Leao
(Estupinan I don’t have that big of an issue for him to stay as 5th choice, he fits Amorim’s system, Barte can also spend more time as LCB sometime as well)
With Liberalli I hope our management changes their strategy and instead of Futuro, focus on giving them time and space to grow… build relations with smaller teams and create Real-like relation… I hope Comotto for the next year!
