GdS: The latest injury and selection indications for Milan ahead of Empoli game

By Oliver Fisher -

After Sunday’s very important victory at Napoli, AC Milan resumed training yesterday at Milanello in view of the next league game against Empoli on Sunday.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), there is some good news for Stefano Pioli who should be able to call upon Alessio Romagnoli and Olivier Giroud, with the former having missed the game in Naples with a slight muscle tweak and the latter leaving with an ankle injury that he strapped up with ice.

Yesterday the Frenchman worked in the gym, but the cut to his ankle remedied after a tough clash with Koulibaly does not cause concern, so on Saturday against Empoli he will be the starter again.

Romagnoli also trained separately but he did so on the pitch at Milanello, which represents a clear sign that the pain in the adductor sustained in the Coppa Italia derby is close to going and that his return to the group is near.

On Saturday, Pioli will have to do without the suspended Theo Hernandez in addition to the injured Simon Kjaer and Tiemoue Bakayoko. Alessandro Florenzi and Fodé Ballo-Touré are the two players battling to replace the Frenchman, with the former currently the favourite.
