Injury situation improves as Pioli confirms duo should be back for Milan vs. Atletico

By Isak Möller -

Recently, Stefano Pioli has been forced to deal with a lot of injuries but despite this, AC Milan have performed very well. Luckily, a few players returned today and two more are expected for the mid-week UCL clash.

The likes of Davide Calabria and Olivier Giroud made their returns this afternoon as Milan faced Spezia away from home. The former came on in the second half while the latter got 45 minutes on the pitch.

During the press conference that followed today’s win, as cited by MilanNews, Pioli was asked if any more players will return in the coming days. This is of importance as the game against Atletico Madrid will take place on Tuesday.

“Of those who stayed at home, I think Kjaer and Florenzi are the ones we will understand by Monday if they are available, the others will have to wait until after the break,” he stated.

Out of the two, only Simon Kjaer has a good chance of playing from the first minute. The Dane is usually a starter but the positive performances of Alessio Romagnoli recently could change things.

  1. Kjaer is not ready to start. I would go with Tomori-Romagnoli. Bring on Kjaer to replace Tomori in the 2nd half.Tomori needs rest as well. Kjaer should be able to cover the last 25 mins or so and we stay sloid at the back
