Passing drill and Primavera practice game: Inside Milan’s training session on August 17

By Rohit Rajeev -

The AC Milan squad were given two days off after their final preseason friendly against Novara, but they got back to work at Milanello on Wednesday.

As usual, the players started off with exercise to activate the muscles. Later they broke into two teams where they practised passing the ball between the teams. No goals were used, as it was purely a passing drill.

The point of this exercise was to learn passing and pressing consequently, something that will be a big focal point of how Pioli wants to play in the upcoming campaign.

The goalkeepers were made to practice catching lobbed balls and had their reflexes tested. There was shooting practice for the players from crosses, with the goalkeepers involved.

Part of the team played a practice match against the Primavera (40 minutes). After this, the two sets of players switched: those who had just faced the Primavera returned to the gym, while the others took to the pitch to play the second half against AC Milan’s U19 side.
