Inter 1-1 Milan Women: Rossonere snatch crucial point with last-gasp header

Just like the first team, it has been a tough start to the season for Milan Women and there was little optimism ahead of today’s derby against Inter. However, thanks to a late header, the Rossonere managed to snatch one point from the game.

Suzanne Bakker was hired as the new manager of Milan Women this summer but the start has been difficult. After losing the first two games, 1-0 against Como and 1-2 against Fiorentina, the Dutch manager headed into today’s derby with pressure on her shoulders.

Inter, who won their first two games, took the lead in the 77th minute of the game through Tessa Wullaert. It didn’t come out of nowhere as the Nerazzurre dominated large parts of the game and as highlighted by our correspondent Luca Maninetti, they hit the woodwork three times.

However, ten minutes later, Milan made the most of a corner as Marta Mascarello picked out Emelyne Laurent in the box. 1-1 against the run of play and the Rossonere were able to see out the game from there, clinching their first point of the season.

It’s a crucial point for Milan Women but they still have a lot of work to do, seeing as Inter deserved to win the game despite the scoreline.
